Saying Goodbye To Studio A
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.
Your work has always been my favorite in CK! So sad..I loved seeing your recent layouts since I also have a baby girl..I will have to follow you more here..Good Luck!

I am so sad. Your column is the only reason I subscribe. Just a sign of my creative movement. Allowing me to let go.

While I am sad to see your column go, I am excited to see where your work takes you next. You're such an inspiration. Thank you and the best of luck to you.

Ali, I hope you are ok with this change. I will miss seeing your work in CK - it is the first, second and third thing I look for - everything else is fine, but you are by far my favorite.
I do hope you will keep your blog going and I will (selfishly) be able to see your work and be inspired by your art and your life.
Peace to you, Susan

Ali, your section in CK will be missed. It is my favorite part of CK, and is what I turn to first when I get my new issues. HMMMM. Sad, but then happy for you to move on and have new doors open for you.

Oh no. Studio A was the only reason I subscribed. Are you cutting back in scrapbooking altogether? I guess I am just really worried that I won't have as much access to your teachings. You have revolutionized the way I scrapbook... Now my scrapbooks are TRULY meaningful to me and my family and way less stressful. Thank you so much for that.

I'm happy for you, but so bummed that you will not be in CK anymore. I love your column and decided to subscribe because of it! Looking forward to what's to come but this announcement is bittersweet.

I wish you well on your new journey, whatever that may be. Back when everyone was doing ALL their journaling on the computer, you were still using your own handwriting. You helped me realize it didn't really matter what the trends and fads were. I could just keep doing what I liked and loved. Thanks for all you have brought to this industry and I hope we continue to see your work and ideas in the future.

So sad. Like so many others, your column was the reason I continued to subscribe to CK. Good luck to you, Ali, and I hope to continue to see your work here on these pages.

I see I'm not the only one that likes your work in CK. I have not purchased it for 3 months, and I guess now I have no reason to purchase future issues.

Your columns have been the only good thing about CK for a very long time. Hopefully they can find something as high-quality as your work to serve as a replacement. Otherwise, I'm afraid my subscription may be ending soon.

Not cutting back at all Alyson - just changing things up a bit. Thank you for the kind words :).

I'm so happy for you that you are moving forward into more things that you love. However your column and Becky Higgins' column were the main reasons i read CK, can't believe both of you have now left!!!
Good luck with everything, look forward to seeing what happens on your blog.

I just exclaimed "Oh No!" out loud as I read this. I'm happy to see your positive outlook on life as you move forward from the CK experience, but I must say I will truly miss your column in the magazine and will have to rethink how much longer I subscribe.

I echo the sentiment of many others who've already posted comments... your column is the one that made me a subscriber to CK! I probably will not renew now, knowing that your work will not be in there. Your work has been such an inspiration! Seeing *your* work specifically is what made scrapbooking accessible to me and encouraged me to pursue it as a hobby.
I wish you all the best as you take a different path (one that I am sure holds so many good things in store for you!). Please continue to share your journey with us!

I must tell you - you are the reason that I primarily bought Studio A - but I am excited as you move forward in life and your career. Change is always good!!
Looking forward to following you along in your new adventures.
And thank you, I can't say that enough for all the inspiration you have given me thru the years, especially in documentating our life with Autism. Always inspiring you are!!
Congratulations

I am very excited to see what is next on your journey! I let my subscription to CK go awhile ago, because I just wasn't finding anything in there for me, except your column (I have all of the old ones in a binder:) An artist needs to keep moving forward, and personally, I don't think CK has in a long time. I'm a daily reader of your blog, and have found so much inspiration right here. Thank you for continuing to share with us (and I hope you keep writing books, too!)

Must say I totally agree with all the comments above, first thing I always looked for was your column and it is the only one I save from the magazine. You are an inspiration and I love you blog as does my 8 year old grandaughter who follows your blog as keenly as me. Every best wish for the future Ali.
