This & that.

Star

We got a dusting of snow last night. Totally not normal for where we live. Simon was totally excited: "let's go out in the snow" was said over and over. I am secretly hoping for a bit more - enough that he could really get out there and enjoy it. We are planning on taking him sledding one of these weekends - got him all geared up with a coat, pants, boots, etc.

He is really talking a lot these days. Lots to say - amazing to hear that little voice give opinions, wants, needs. A lot of it is still repetition of videos and such, but a good deal is also spontaneous. That's what we cherish.

WORK

Packing up supplies to head to The Scrapping Bee in Springfield, Illinois this weekend. There may be a few spots left in the classes. You can call the store at 217-546-0134 for more information.

CHATS

Chatting tonight at My Scrap Shoppe and tomorrow night Scrappers Bliss. Both chats are at 7pm Pacific, 10pm Eastern.

BLOGS

There are a few blogs I have really been enjoying lately that I want to pass along (since none of us have anything else to do this time of year). They inspire me for lots of different reasons: the photos, the words, etc. Enjoy.

Little Birds

Oh Joy

Dalai Mama

And one that I have been reading for awhile: My Topography

re: simon's talking....do you guys have in music therapy? When my guy, Jonathan, (who is now 18 and never stops talking) was 3, I enrolled him in MT and what a beautiful difference it made. I know as connected as you, and as well informed as you are, you probably have this on board. I just wanted to plant a seed if you had not thought about it.
Thanks for being so inspiring to us all. Especially those among us who deal with some of the same things you deal with. I don't feel as along, knowing that other family have these same things happen. The good and tha not-so-good, it all shapes us, eh?

Ali, I love checking in on your blog. Your creativity totally inspires me. I just had a question for you. I know you've used the MME Transparancy frames and I'm wondering how you adhere them? I've got a few of them I'm wanting to use in a little MR chipboard album and want to make sure they stay secure without the adhesive being seen. Any tips? Thanks!

This really stinks because I had every intention of attending the classes this weekend in Springfield, but my husband leaves on Sunday for 10 days and I want to get in as much time with him as possible before he leaves. I am really bummed too because I really wanted to meet you Ali and finally take a class by you! If you are ever back in central IL, I am so there! =)

Ali - Just in case you've not seen this before, here's a site that specializes in toys for kids on the autism spectrum:
    http://stars4kidz.com/storefront-c0.html
I like that it groups them by what area of development the toy is intended to help the child with.

Fun to look at new blogs. Thanks! I am traveling with my daughter's ballet company to New York City in January and would like to create a travel journal. Can you make any suggestions?

I'd be more than happy to let you & Simon borrow some of our snow. Brrr...it's cold here. So happy for you that Simon has a lot to say, I know what an achievement that is!

Thanks for the blogs. I am always looking for some inspired thoughts! And these were fun t read and peruse.
And how fun that Simon is talking more. I'm beginning to hear proof of little thoughts and strong opinions in my own son's voice. We're still seeing speech therapists and another one is slated to join the "team" of specialists and we try to celebrate each moment of progress. Here's hoping you have many of those days where you can celebrate and cherish the moments of expression... in whatever form they come. :-)

What gorgeous blogs! I've added My Topograhy (who wouldn't) and Little Birds! I'm off to buy linen to make the gorgeous little fabric tree. i am so looking forward to going on school holidays so that I can read blogs and drink my morning cuppa by the laptop! I'm definitely going to reinvent my own sadly boring little blog too.

Have a good time in my hometown of Springfield. I would love to be there but the dates didn't work out. The Bee is a great store...my niece, Lauren, works there. Give her a big hug from me!

Glad to hear that your son is talking more. That is always a good thing.
Wish I could drive down to Springfield this weekend but don't think I'm going to have the time. I'd really love to meet you.
Thanks for the blogs to check out. I've become a 'blog junkie' these days. Just what I need - spend more time on the computer. LOL

Wow Ali...I checked out these blogs and they are like on a whole different level. So discriptive...so raw...so artisticaly beautiful. The one thing that I learned from reading their blogs was that for a while now I have been struggling with tendancies to stay on the surface with things. I have been affraid to go deeper with my ART ...with myself. With your motto "it is ok" and just reading these blogs. Just the pure joy for the little things...it's humbling. I mean I SEE real beauty in sooooo many things. I owe that solely to my mother but I don't know...I have been timid to embrace that beauty. ARTistically and most importantly in my words. I do not want to struggle with the question of weither to stay safe or to let go. I wanna let go. That in itself will be my goal. It's a process, I know, but it will be a rewarding ride the whole way. So now that I have drowned your comments page I want to leave off with a thank you. For more reasons than one. -Karla
