Inspiration Boards.
Tags:One of my favorite things to check out on Flickr is the inspiration board group. It is so cool to see what people pick out to hang up and how they change it up from time to time.
I think I am going to start one today that consists of all the holiday images inspiring me right now.
Do you use some sort of inspiration board in your creative space? What's hanging there? Post a link in the comments if you have a photo online.

I use the wall. I have a picture from my college graduation, my tassels from hs and college, some pictures, images from the Anthropologie catalogs.

Ali: Great topic! Good timing. I'm not able to fit all of my holiday inspiration on a board. I was just posting this tonight:

Also, The flickr inspiration boards group now has it's own blog, containing some pretty interesting interviews. It's here:

As for a board near my work area ... yeah, it's coming along.

i love that group as well. i find it a very psychological flickr group -- looking at what keeps creative types going as well as what they clearly want to *save* for one reason or another.
i have also come to love these shelves (they are from the ikea kids' section) because the cute scrolly tops double as a railing to hold stuff. especially useful when renting and not allowed to hang anything involving nails, etc. it is now jam-packed with minibooks and cards from friends, and it's just above eye-level as i'm working. i am moving next month and am not sure where these are going to go in the new space, but they are definitely keepers. :)
here they are as they first started...somewhat tidier and more restrained than they are now!

The inspiration board has been the newest of my many projects since reading your book. I even started painting again after 10 years. You have inspired me so much. I feel I can't turn off my creative faucet lately:) Thank you for posting this on your blog. Here is my take on this cool creative reminder in my work area and some other ideas.

I've been thinking about making an inspiration board for awhile as I have been remembering the bulletin board my mom always had in the kitchen near the back door. She had her calendar with activities for the whole family, pictures of nieces and nephews and cousins' kids, a few comic strips that made her laugh, recipes to try--just a little bit of everything! Sounds like a good scrapbook page layout! Thanks for being such an inspiration Ali! LOVE the new book--lots of inspiration there! Also, I do keep a sort of inspiration folder on my computer and save pictures of cards, LO, etc that I see online during my daily surfing--I start a new folder for each month.

I have a couple in my studio - a magnetic one that's mainly for products, and a corkboard for random inspiring stuff. They have changed since the pic, but here they are:

I don't have a picture of it (can you believe there is one person left in the world who doesn't have a digital camera? That's me!:) I keep things there that make me smile- pics of family, layouts that I have clipped, a couple of decorated nametags from cropping weekends, a picture of my friends who I moved away from a while back, some inspirational quotes and anything that shows a color combo that I loved.

What a great idea! With so many things to consider every day, why not make a space for positive things. It seems like such a good practice to focus on the good things we notice!
