Christmas Project #7 : Initial Ornaments
A few weeks back I was flipping through Pottery Barn's holiday catalog and came across some very simple, beautiful initial ornaments (can't seem to locate them online). What can be easier than rubbing on a single letter or two and calling it good? I used a combination of rub ons from Fontwerks and letter stickers from American Crafts and will use a little piece of ribbon to add them to our tree.
These plain glass ornaments can be picked up at any craft store and they come in a variety of sizes. There are all kinds of cool things you can do with them other than just doing a rub on + letter sticker on the outside. I loved these ones and these ones (quilled paper rolls - also a great use for any extra ribbon) and these too that I saw during a quick search for "ornaments" in the gallery on Two Peas.
These make great little gifts.

Hi Ali, thanks for sharing the idea and the links to the others! Those are great, I always end up buying ones like that that are hand-decorated by kids at craft fairs because I love what they come up with, but I may have to try making my own this year. Happy Thanksgiving.

Super Cute!
By the way- That second Ornament- I do not think that is Ribbon. I think that it is strips of paper that has been "quilled"... or at least I think that is what it is called. Quilling... or somthing like that...
But that way you can make super paper into super cute ornaments.
But I have made ones with ribbon- and they are cute too

What a surprise to check your blog today only to find that you linked to my "joy" ornament on 2peas! What a delight! I get so much inspiration from your ideas, it's an honor to give it back!
As another reader pointed out, it is paper "quilled" around a round pencil and pulled tight to fit in the hole. Double-sided thin papers work best...Thanks again for making my day!

Love those balls. I've also seen the clear, red glass balls with white letters on them and white ribbons on the top, which was very pretty too. Thanks for the sale tip.
