Spring Break 08.
Tags:Spring Break is here and the 3 of us (the e3 reference on the album above) are ready for a little travel + rest + relaxation. It won't be long before Chris is back into full campaign mode for the fall election and things will be that much more hectic. This seemed like our best chance to get away together just the three of us (with no other agenda besides hanging out).
For a little on-the-road travel documentation I put together a small mini book (4x6) this morning to take along on our adventure. It's a new one from D Reeves (loving the very cool white look- it's a pure white rather than clear) and my plan is to use brochures and found papers along the way for the pages. I also packed a small Kodak printer to try some photo printing on the road.
[ album: D Reeves; foam letter stickers: American Crafts; chipboard circle accent: Scenic Route ]
Keeping the additional supplies simple again: scissors, hole punch, rolling adhesive, glue stick, and a pen.
I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. We got a kick out of the comments yesterday regarding Chris' white shirt. It just happened to be the one he had on and it stayed clean the entire time. There wasn't much splashing in the dyes - a fairly quick and easy little egg coloring session. But yep, he was brave.
As a couple of you noticed and mentioned in the comments yesterday, Simon was totally into it this year (vs. no interest last year). He had a great time dipping the eggs into the dyes and placing them back into the cartons. He also loved re-hiding (and re-hiding and re-hiding) the eggs yesterday afternoon for our friends that came over to celebrate Easter with us.
Have a wonderful week!

What a cute little album and travel kit. Regarding the egg dying: some of the older grand-kids helped me with the egg-dying - but the eggs were empty/hollow, and we made 'cascarones' by filling the empty eggs with confetti, which were later (on Sunday) smashed on others' heads. See photos of the 'cascarones' action here: http://www.thestampingshac.blogspot.com/
(my daughter's blog; the March 24 entry). You can also see a photo of the pot of tamales we made for Easter (a family project by 8 adults) - see the Mar 21 entry.
I hope you have a grand time together - becoming refreshed and renewed.

Linda, I love your post(above) about a 12 x 12 collage of treasures from each day! Great idea. I am going on a beach trip with high school friends (and I'm waaay out of hs) next week and this is a fun idea to document our time together!
thanks!

Hi! Last trip I took my little printer with me and had pre-made my pages and printed out the pics in the hotel room. Oila! Came back with a finished album! Great sense of achievement!
This year, we're taking a 6 state roadtrip and I'm taking my printer. For part of that time we'll be camping in Yellowstone - but I've confirmed I can use the restroom for electricity to print my pics. What's camping without scrapbooking!?? Love the idea of using this type of album and punching things in!

I am leaving for a trip to FL on Friday and I'm totally taking this idea and running with it. My little printer will definitely fit in my suitcase and a small bag of supplies will let me finish this album before I get home! I can't wait! :)

this is an absolutely WONDERFUL idea!!! hmmm... I'm heading on a honeymoon in a few months. I KNOW there will be some downtime where my guy will want to nap. I might pack something like this to do, maybe even on the plane (minus the scissors, I guess...)

Have fun resting and relaxing. I think your idea of taking the mini on the road is fabulous. I'm about to embark on an unexpected and emotionally charger trip and might try this documentation approach. Thanks for sharing your ideas <3

Enjoy your vaca and thanks for showing us the little baggy with your essential supplies. Scrapping can seem so overwhelming sometimes, but it can be something as small as a mini-album. I'm looking forward to seeing this after youre done with it.
