Spring Break 08.
Tags:Spring Break is here and the 3 of us (the e3 reference on the album above) are ready for a little travel + rest + relaxation. It won't be long before Chris is back into full campaign mode for the fall election and things will be that much more hectic. This seemed like our best chance to get away together just the three of us (with no other agenda besides hanging out).
For a little on-the-road travel documentation I put together a small mini book (4x6) this morning to take along on our adventure. It's a new one from D Reeves (loving the very cool white look- it's a pure white rather than clear) and my plan is to use brochures and found papers along the way for the pages. I also packed a small Kodak printer to try some photo printing on the road.
[ album: D Reeves; foam letter stickers: American Crafts; chipboard circle accent: Scenic Route ]
Keeping the additional supplies simple again: scissors, hole punch, rolling adhesive, glue stick, and a pen.
I hope you all had a lovely holiday weekend. We got a kick out of the comments yesterday regarding Chris' white shirt. It just happened to be the one he had on and it stayed clean the entire time. There wasn't much splashing in the dyes - a fairly quick and easy little egg coloring session. But yep, he was brave.
As a couple of you noticed and mentioned in the comments yesterday, Simon was totally into it this year (vs. no interest last year). He had a great time dipping the eggs into the dyes and placing them back into the cartons. He also loved re-hiding (and re-hiding and re-hiding) the eggs yesterday afternoon for our friends that came over to celebrate Easter with us.
Have a wonderful week!

Hi Ali,
I've just come home from a three week trip and I did an on-the-road scrapbook each night of the trip. I collected brochures and postcards and cut them up to add in and around the writing. I've left places for some photos so they can be stuck in when they're developed. The whole thing is not particularly scrapbooky, but it's what I wanted it to be. This is the second on-the-road I've done and it was a great success just like the last one. Thanks so much for the idea (got it from the article you did quite a while ago in CK). I'm also reading Life Artist, which I've had for a while but have been saving (I'm like that - don't read new books straight away, got to save the newness for a while!). Great, great, great book. Love it and wanted to congratulate you on that too.
All the best,
Debra

As if you don't inspire me enough, I feel inspired to do this for my future weekend adventures....You hear it all the time, but you truly are an inspiration, an amazing scrapper and woman. You've brought me back to the foundation of my creativity and I appreciate it. Thank you!

This is just the inspiration I was looking for! I have a night away for work next week and I thought I'd be bored in my hotel room - hello mini-album to keep me occupied. Hope you had a great trip. Cheers, Lisa.

Is it just me or do glue sticks dry up and then stop working as an adhesive? I noticed that it is one of your staples that you bring with you when you travel, but I just seem to have the worst luck with glue sticks.

Hi Ali,
I just finished reading your book, Life Artist...it was just what I have been looking for...you spoke to me in so many ways. Today I am beginning my creative journey...starting small...today I am creating a mini album A Day In My Life...my husband thinks I'm nuts..so what else is new? I have been so tied into 12x12 albums, and then don't start because I am afraid...that is now OVER...I can't wait.
I hope you are enjoying your vacation...you deserve it. I hope to some day meet you and we can chat in real life...I think you are my soul sister (although I am probably old enough to about be your mother!!)
Thanks for sharing YOU!

Ali,
First of all, hope you all had a great spring break! You all deserve it!!!
Second, I am trying to find a punch the size that you used for your butterly art project on the white background and for the hanging butterflies. I have had no luck. Care to share you source?
Hugs,
Angi

How hard am I laughing??? 1st--Ali, I'm so proud of you for taking a true vacation from the daily grind. You deserve it!
2nd--Like so many other commenters said, I missed you! My day seemed incomplete without a dose of daily Alisms.
