Wednesday Layout.

Today's layout is a simple combination of memories + sentiment + an enlarged focal photo (10 inches tall and printed at home on my HP Photosmart D7360). Text was added directly to the photo in Photoshop. "This Is" was drawn using my Wacom
tablet. Single line journaling says:
I love photos like this that give me some working space to add text right onto the photo. I also like having the opportunity to tell this sort of story - one that is inspired by the memories that are conjured when I came across the photo. Telling stories does not have to be complicated nor does it always have to be complete. Stop worrying and just get to writing.
There were a few questions in the comments section yesterday that I want to answer:
1. Am I doing anything to my mail scraps to make them acid free? No. If you want to make sure the things you are adding to your projects are acid free you can use a product such as Archival Mist. I simply figure that some of the things I create will last and others will not.
2. The canvas size for yesterday's photo gathering was about 10 inches x 6.5 inches. After printing I cut the individual photos out and rearranged them on my layout.
3. Do I use a Mac or a PC? Mac.
4. What camera do I use? Canon Digital Rebel XTi.
5. There is a step-by-step for creating photo gatherings in Photoshop listed in issue four of my newsletter.
I am really enjoying reading through all the ways that you come together as a family. Thank you for sharing what is important in your lives.

Good stuff Ali! I'd do a layout just like this if I wasn't watching them pack up my house. Thanks for the continued inspiration.

Great layout--as always.
One really doesn't need a tablet to create this look. If you do not think you'll use it a lot--which i doubt I would-- try the Ali font for the same result. Similarly, I cannot justify spending big bucks on a cricut type cutter--and I don't think you own one either. Sheets of stickers or my printer work just fine, save money, and save room in my art room. You are so good at encouraging us to not buy needlessly. Use a pen, paper, some photos and get it done. Thank you, Ali. (Also thanks for the link to your interview. I'm happy about another upcoming book, yay.)

I like that you suggest not complicating the story - I like the way you broke down your adventure with Simon into almost point form - gets lots of info across without clouding it with 'wordiness'.
Thanks again, Ali - good, good stuff!!
A.

I am going to confess that I really don't worry too much about archival quality scrapping... I've been scrapping for over twenty years and I used to do my layouts on wallpaper and wrapping paper. I think the yellowing and age add the vintage charm, and really - only a handful of people will be looking at my scrapbooks "when I'm gone". Does this make me a bad scrapper?

Two LO's done so far (on my blog), and I'm very happy with the results! It's back to basic scrapping, and that's almost a treat to me after making so many complicated projects, being a design team member... thanks for this weeks project!

Hey Ali,
I love the simplicity of this layout.
I notice you use an inkject printer at home sometimes to print your photos. Are you concerned that they'll fade over time, or is it okay because you've put them in an album?

LOve this layout today Ali, these are the moments to treasure, everyday happenings. I have a question - my printer is bad and I want to get a new one any recommendations?

I really love this one for the simplicity...following along these two weeks has made me take a look at where I get "stuck" in my process. Your examples have helped so much.
Hope you don't mind one more question...
How do I get my handwriting on my photos without a WACOM? I've scanned my words in before - that works fine on a plain white background -- any easy/good tutorials out there that you or anyone would recommend? I do have photoshop and illustrator CS2 but still trying to figure it all out. thanks!
