Three Things : MiniBooks

On the heels of the release of my new book I wanted to share with you three of my favorite minibooks:
1. D Reeves Design House 3-Ring Acrylic Album Style File : This is the album I used that is featured on the cover of Sharing Your Story. I actually love that Diane's albums don't include the interior pages...leaving me to use up other things in my stash for the interior pages. I used a bunch of her other albums in the book including this one (4 inches x 6.5 inches - great for photos) and this one (also used that one for my December Daily project last year).
2. 7gypsies Envelope Album : 7gypsies albums have been a favorite of mine since they began making them. Remember the ones that came with a bunch of different bits included (like little envelopes and such) - I loved those. It is pretty easy to add those things in yourself to personalize your albums even more. The envelope album is one of my favorites becuase it is a great choice when you have a story that includes lots of journaling (it can be printed out, folded up, and placed inside the envelope for safe keeping). Here's one of those albums in action from a few years ago (letters from my Mom). And here's an entry about taking the spiral binding apart and putting it back together again.
3. Maya Road 8x8 Binder Album : This is the one I used for my Evolution class this past year at CKU. I added in a bunch of additional elements (to compliment the chipboard pages). Love the ease of the 3-ring. Add transparencies, photos glued back to pack, envelopes, etc - anything you can punch a couple holes in to keep them inside the binder. Thanks so much for the info on Pinecone Press! I placed an order yesterday for those coin holders. That place has a lot of other neat stuff too!
I really just love the neutral-ness of that album! It really looks great with everything!
Love the d.reeves albums too, I just bought the tab one a few weeks ago. I just have to find a purpose for it. :)

Quick question... where do you get the mini books that look like the kids "board books" -- like the one in your "Today You" mini book that you posted of recently?

7 Gypsies minibooks are my favorite, too. I also have that Maya Road binder album (the 8x8) and I love it. It sells for a great price (at least at my LSS).
My daughter just showed me one of her gorgeous flower girl dresses--that it's ripped and getting too small. I'm going to take it apart and use the flowers, lace, satin, etc. to make a minibook with that Maya Road binder album. It will be all about her as two-time flower girl. We're both so excited. We're making a special edition tutorial with it for Paperclipping.com. So excited!

I remember when I used to be anti-mini...but you have definitely brought me over to the dark side. It started with the december daily you did and I was truly pushed over the edge by the mixed up mini. Now I have a September photo a day mini going right now with an acrylic album and I LOVE it.

I have to agree with you on the binders. I bought one last year for my birthday (it's almost my birthday again!) with the intent of making it into a recipe album. I've been so busy I haven't even started, but i loved the durability of the hardbound binder.

Woah--Ali, I just checked the prices on those acrylic albums--$18 for two pieces of acrylic and some book rings? What's that about? I don't get it.

Just got this book in the mail last week (along with your third book as I could not skip from 2 to 4 without feeling funny). Both are wonderful.

Noelle - very small company (1 person) and everything is done out of their house (I think that is why the prices are higher).

They are also much thicker than most of the other acrylics out there.

oh man, the thing that holds me back from scrapbooking? My lack of a studio or scraproom to scrap in. I always have to pull it all out onto the dining table, and by the time I have everything out, and start looking through my stuff, I'M OVERWHELMED! Hopefully when I move back home (JUNCTION CITY OREGON!!) I'll be able to have an organized place that I can get my stuff out and leave it out if I need to! :)

Thanks for the information, Ali. I do like to support small businesses, especially when they manufacture their own stuff, rather than ship materials around the world and back. And the acrylic definitely looks thicker and of good quality. I'm willing to pay more knowing those reasons--except I don't think I could pay that much. Darn.
