Family Gratitude Spinner Project through Big Picture Scrapbooking
Tags:I am very excited to announce a new partnership with Big Picture Scrapbooking to bring you a Projects Plus instant download class : Family Gratitude Photo Spinner.
Are you looking for a creative way to celebrate your family photos? So often they end up tucked away inside beautiful albums or in boxes under the bed, cared for but not celebrated often enough. The Family Gratitude Photo Spinner is a project that brings your photos out into the open, encouraging you to live with some of your most favorite photos of the people you love. This project would make a great holiday centerpiece or a lovely decoration within your home for anytime of the year. It would also make an amazing gift for someone special.
NOTE: This project is not necessarily Thanksgiving-specific but would definitely work well as a centerpiece for this time of year. It is more focused on expressing gratitude for family and friends and life. Paper and colors can easily be substituted to fit your individual tastes (and what you have on hand).
The class will be available as an instant download beginning next Thursday, November 13th at 10am Pacific. As soon as you register you have immediate access to the class materials.
Cost for the class is $12 and includes: color handouts with step by step instructions, downloadable PDF templates (for transparencies and titles), full supply list with links to products, an audio message from me, a private gallery for sharing your projects with others in the class, and access to a message board for sharing thoughts and ideas as you work through the project.
In addition, Big Picture Scrapbooking and kit club Cocoa Daisy have teamed up to offer a kit for this class with a bunch of the products you will need for this project if you are wanting to use the same supplies (check the supply list for specific details - not all products are included). The Cocoa Daisy kit does include the main 7gypsies supplies such as the Photo Carousel (also available here), tabbed pages, pocket pages, patterned transparencies, and page protectors (also available here). You can see and purchase the kit of supplies here.
Big Picture Scrapbooking is an online scrapbook education and inspiration website. Classes are offered in a variety of formats, including downloadable projects like this one that can be done at anytime. If you are not familiar with Big Picture Scrapbooking you can read more about their mission here, how it works, and frequently asked questions.
I hope that some of you will be able to join me on this creative adventure. I loved the process of putting this project together: from the patterned papers to the paint to the embossing to working with little elements to going back through many of my favorite photos of my immediate family. I love how the finished project really celebrates my current family of three and has space available for the little one that will be joining us soon.
It's a great reminder of what is really most important in life.

This is great, Ali. I, too, am a BPS fan and generally stay in a class! I'm glad you are forging partnerships that allow you more family time while still sharing your art and teaching. I will look forward to the class...hope it is the first of many.

ali this is fabulous. this is exactly the outlet for my "gathering gratitude" album. i wanted something that others could add to as well. an album was too limiting and i was struggling with finding something that could stand all year round on my coffee table. my kids would demolish anything i made out of chipboard that would stand. i'm going to make one for my sister for christmas. she'll love it. thank you for your creativity.

Ali,
Hi. Just one more 'beautiful' comment if you can handle it! I do so wish there was a Canadian branch of Cocoa Daisy. Anyway, I will be trying to hunt down the products on the north side of the border. Thanks for sharing your ideas. Thanks, also, for sharing parts of yourself with us through your words + photos. I love your approach to it all.
Kelly
ps...I can't wait for December to roll around so I can get started on my December daily. The kits at Cocoa Daisy are already sold out but I know I have enough lovely papers, etc. around here to put my book together.

Ali,
What a wonderful project. I am definitely interested in creating one myself. I used the ATC spinner for a project about 2 years ago (could be a little off on the date) to create a 'memory' spinner. One of my sons passed away and I wanted to capture all of the little things that made him so incredibly special. Everyone in the family wrote down memories and thoughts about him. I kept more of the ATC holder inserts/or 'tags' ready so that we could add a thought to the spinner at anytime. It turned out beautifully! : ) It has been a true blessing that this was created when it was. It is very comforting to refresh our memories of Chase as time goes on. I'm sure that the photo spinner project will bring much joy into many people's hearts. : ) Great job! : )

You are so inspiring & motivating! I just drove an hour to Archivers and bought the spinner and all the goodies to go with it. I am currently taking a break from my worktable where I have been chip tabs, transparencies with paper in each and oodles of other goodies I found. I bought all my paper and journaling items in red, white, black, and tan solids and prints. I will take your class beginning Thursday but couldn't wait to get started. Also taking Jessica Sprague's class that starts Sunday. My husband may join me. Whoopee!!!
Have a great weekend Ali!

Ali,
I don't guess there's any chance Cocoa Daisy will be offering more of the December Daily Album kits...I was going to order one this morning and didn't...now I see they're sold out!

This is really neat, but $99.50 for this kit???? Yikes!

I think a large Rolodex would suffice as a substitute for the spinner. I've been thinking of making a "scrapbook" using one for my desk at work so I could showcase many of favorite photos.

hey Ali - before i sign up - can you tell me if i could do this project in a small album rather than the photo spinner ?

Very cute, way to expensive. Maybe it's those who have budgets like that who are happy to "redistribute their wealth," well, not me...I work hard, come home and homeschool our girls, because I'm unsatisfied with public schools, can't afford a private school right now. God help us through the next 4 years with a Socialist!

Kathryn - I think this is something you could potentially translate into an album rather than the spinner, but the spinner was really one of the inspirations for the project. Also, one of my main ideas was to create something that exists "outside" of an album and can live out in the open in your home.
Also, as some of you have commented, this is an expensive project when you add up all the supplies (hence the price for the full kit). The spinner is the most expensive item.
You may want to consider going in with a friend to split up some of the additional items (all the 7gypises products you get from Cocoa Daisy are full packages) and using papers you already have on hand.
Our goal in giving the kit option was really to make it convenient for those who would want to purchase everything specifically as shown in the instructions.

As a BPS junkie, I feel like my prayers have been answered...having you have a class! I love the classes that are available to me thru them, but you as a teacher...WOW! Can hardly wait. I already have the spinner and am looking forward to a great class.

Ali,
Congrats! How happy you must be that all your hard work is truly paying off . Your success is well-deserved and if you don't realize how many people love your style you only need to see that most of your products are sold out...again. You're sizzlin' !! Mac
