Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show
First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:
What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.
Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...
And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:
• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.
• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.
• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).
To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.
I would also like to take a minute to welcome and thank my newest blog sponsors:
Digital Birdhouse : digital scrapbook products
Scarlet Lime : monthly kit club
The Paper Pixie : paper embellishments
The Digital Scrapbook Teacher : photoshop tutorials and classes for hybrid + digital scrapbooking
Lettergirls : delightful hand-created address stamps

We had to take a big leap Monday and have our 7 year old admitted into the hospital for some tests. It's so hard to see your child going through something and be strong for them. Thankfully, we got a diagnosis we can live with, one that he will be able to live a long, healthy normal life with by taking medication. But, knowing it could have been something life threatening was so hard for our family.
Have a great week! Hug those kids extra tight everyone!!!!!

I love that kit. I have made a leap recently. Two really. I have leapt into my bosses job while she is out after having surgery on both feet. And was actually told today by one of the managers that I was doing a good job. And the other leap was not really something I want because it will take me away from my family even more. But I am taking a part-time job to go along with the full-time job I already have. My husband still hasn't found a job after being fired (medical reasons) almost a year ago. The Lord is blessing me though with both of these opportunities.

Biggest leap.....leaving a failed marriage and becoming a single mom. Stressful, scary but it needed to happen.

A year ago my husband took a leap and gave up a teaching position to allow me to take a career step up as the principal of a small country school. I took that same leap to leave a large, comfortable school and work in establishing a new school. Now I'm poised to reverse the roles and step into the unknown as my husband joins the Air Force, which will involve a move to new state to a town with few school. Scary and not yet sure how this will all pan out...

My husband took a job overseas. I was a leap for our whole family. I am here with our son, but I have faith that this was meant to happen in our lives.
So would love the LOM class. The book Photo Freedom is amazing!

hey ali!!
so good to leave you a comment (ya know...like talking to you...but not) :)
i would say my biggest leap has been starting a relationship with someone. i was starting to doubt whether there even was someone out there for me...and whether it was even worth it. the last relationship ended miserably and i was done. although the new guy isn't most definitely not what i had imagined for myself, i couldn't be paired up with anyone more perfect. it's really making me reevaluate my thoughts on destiny and God as well. :)
take care!

My husband is currently finishing Law School and will be preparing for the bar in a couple of months. During this time he will not be able to work. So I have decided to go back to work after 3 years of staying home with our children to support the family while he prepares for the Bar.

My most recent act of courage was going through my closet and letting go of anything that no longer fit or flattered. It was quite a challenge letting go of my attachments to the clothes and the body they represented, but it is a new era! We had a garage sale this weekend and the money I made will help me to start a new wardrobe of classic basics that fit and flatter!

My most recent act of courage has taken place over the last 7 months. Being strong in the face of a family challenge. We suffered through a house fire last June and as my family has been displaced, scared, moved and oved again, moved back into the reconstructed house and forged ahead with our lives. I faced my children who were scared and tired and worried about another storm and I showed them bravery even though I was scared too. I must have done a decent job because I practically believe myself that we are better today than we were on June 25th, 2008.

This leap of courage is not about me, but what my daughters friend did for her. My daughter was at basketball practice, got hit in the nose, went to the restroom to take care of her bloody nose. My daughter was gone for at least 10 minutes. Her friend asked the coach if she could go and check on her. The coach said "NO" Her friend ended up not paying attention to the coach and went and checked on her anyways without the coaches permission. It was a good thing as she really did have a bad nose bleed and needed help.
This leap of courage is about being a great "FRIEND"
