Dear Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller I Will Miss You So
Tags:
Yes, it's pretty silly and a tad melodramatic to be sad at the loss of my favorite adhesive.
But when you work with adhesive as much as I do, and you finally find one that is reliable and feels darn good in your hand, it's a big bummer to have it go away. Yep, in case you haven't heard yet Kokuyo will not be distributing the Dot N Roller in the US anymore.
I am starting to test out some other permanent brands including the Tombow Mono, the Therm-O-Web Memory Tape Runner (I like many of their other adhesives), and the 3L Easy Runner (which I don't like as much because I found that I like dots rather than tabs). I am still resisting that Scotch ATG mainly because it seems so big and bulky, but I might just have to try it after reading so many positive reviews both in comments here and elsewhere. If you use the ATG do you use the red one or the yellow one? Does it go on like dots or tabs?
So what are you testing out or using now?

I was consulting with two peas girls and I think I will try to use the Glue Glider Pro, the ATC gun looks like too big for me :(

Try the Glue Glider Pro(pink & green)from Glue Arts. It has dots or tabs. It is a small version fo the ATC and easier to manipulate. It was a BIG seller in the shop...couldn't keep it in stock! I am with ya thought...that Kokuyo was the best out there.

I use the yellow ATG and LOVE it!! It doesn't apply dots or tabs per se, more like a solid line of adhesive.

I've used herma dotto dots almost since I started scrapping. I'll go back to that when I use up all my Kokuyo. I like repositionable for my layouts.

And I suppose I should add what I am using: Elmer's Rubber Cement. FOR EVERYTHING.

I hadn't heard that Kokuyo wasn't going to sell adhesive here anymore. Big bummer! I used the Thermoweb tape runner before switching to Kokuyo. It worked well, just occasionally got gummed up or the "tape" broke in the middle of the role, making it worthless. But it's cheaper than Kokuyo and sold at Michaels, so using the 40% off coupon makes it pretty darn cheap. I agree those ATG things are just too big and bulky.

I ise the red Atg and love it. Comes out as a line. Sticks very well. And got used to the size very quickly.

I love the Duck Easy Stick. Feels great in the hand and it is repositionable for a few minutes and then becomes permanent. I order it by the case!

I highly recommend the Glue Glider Pro from Glue Arts. They offer both dots or squares, in both high tack and repositionable. It's not so large and fits nicely in the hand. And it's a good price point, too.

Thank U Thank U Thank U
for this post.
You were the one that turned me onto kokuyo so PLEASE keep us informed as to which adhesive you switch too.
In the meantime I'll go back to the trusty Creative Memories tape runner. It is tabs so you probably wouldn't like that but tabs or dots---that's not an issue for me---I like either.

I use the Glue Glider Pro (pink & green) from Glue Arts. It is the best I have ever used. I like it because of it's size, not too big or bulky, and also that you can get several types of refills for it. I keep a supply of refills on hand by using my coupons at Hobby Lobby 40% or 50% off.

Oh no. I hadn't heard. I tried this after your recommendation...and I drive an hour to buy them! Now what? I guess I'll be testing some others too. :'(

I actually really like the 3L EZ Runner and it's the one I go to most often. I like it because it can travel along any edge, curvy and whatnot. They do make one that is in the form of dots, though I've never tried it. I have tried the EZ Squares though and don't like them at all. I didn't think they held as well and I just like the little tiny tabs better.

I love my ATG gun (red). The initial "investment" is a bit pricey, but well worth it. The size doesn't seem to be a concern for me. I enjoy not having to constantly refill, since the tape wheel is an ample size. I do like the Duck tape runner also, but price wise the amount of tape per runner is expensive and hard to find in my area. With the ATG I just order a dozen online and that lasts me quite awhile.

Well, this is very disappointing.
I love the Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller and will miss it very much!
I also use the ATG (yellow-it's my favorite color so it was chosen mostly for the color w/the understanding I could add the adapter kit for different sized tape) and the Glue Glider Pro. I love both but the ATG wins even though it is much heavier. I got really tired of running out of adhesive in the middle of realitively small projects. I have yet to run out of ATG adhesive (ever) even though I have 6 replacement rolls in waiting just in case.
It's a shame they are discontinuing such a popular
product.
