Dear Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller I Will Miss You So

Yes, it's pretty silly and a tad melodramatic to be sad at the loss of my favorite adhesive.
But when you work with adhesive as much as I do, and you finally find one that is reliable and feels darn good in your hand, it's a big bummer to have it go away. Yep, in case you haven't heard yet Kokuyo will not be distributing the Dot N Roller in the US anymore.
I am starting to test out some other permanent brands including the Tombow Mono, the Therm-O-Web Memory Tape Runner (I like many of their other adhesives), and the 3L Easy Runner (which I don't like as much because I found that I like dots rather than tabs). I am still resisting that Scotch ATG mainly because it seems so big and bulky, but I might just have to try it after reading so many positive reviews both in comments here and elsewhere. If you use the ATG do you use the red one or the yellow one? Does it go on like dots or tabs?
So what are you testing out or using now?

Oh what a sad day! I have been lamenting the loss of kokuyo adhesive :(
I have been using xyron roll on adhesive and it appears to be strong holding when you first apply it, but after a couple of weeks some of my things are coming apart :( And each roll only lasts me a week or so. So, I don't recommend that.
I'm very interested to hear what everyone thinks about a good replacement. I sell a lot of my crafts at shows and would hate to think that someone would buy something that might fall apart later :O

I'm definitely watching this topic. I've only ever used tabs so I'm curious to know why some like dots better?

I have both the red and yellow ATG guns and I love them!! I use the red for smaller things, like ribbon and embellishments.
The only beware is that the adhesive is permanent, like right away! So once it's down, it's down! But it has made scrappin easier for me and I don't worry about little mess ups anymore, I just leave it be or find someway to make it work.
It is an investment, but worth it to me!

I really like my ATG. I still use Tombow mono too, just for convenience when I'm not in the mood for the big guy. I have the red ATG. It is not dots or tabs, it's more like the mono, but much stronger. I like the mono dot version too. Good luck. Hate it when you love a certain product and it's discontinued.

I use the yellow ATG and I love it. The adhesive comes out in a line (adhesive comes in two different sizes) much like if you were applying a double sided tape. The downfalls are that the inital price of the ATG is expensive, but the refills are reasonably priced and last quite a while. It does take some time to get used to the size of the ATG. It isn't as "handheld" as so many other adhesive products.

I have used the Herma for years and I have been wanting to switch to something new as I am not crazy about tabs either. Leaning towards the ATG but not wanting to make the initial investment. I'll be checking back to see what you switch to!

I was in denial about the Kokyuo until I ran out of adhesive. I tried the Tombow Mono and actually am liking it. It goes on with dots, so it makes me think it is the Kokyuo!!

Since starting as a StampinUp rep in 2003, I have been hooked on the tombow, love it, love it, love it and it is really the only adhesive I use, except when using my xyron.

EK's Herma Dotto is my current favorite:

It's one of the only dot-adhesives that I'm not constantly taking apart to remove built-up stickies so the device will work properly.

Another ATG fan here... after years of Tombow Mono, I *heart* my ATG (and I love red, so the color works for me! LOL). It is big but I got used to it easily, and it is an absolute dream to have rolls of tape that last so long!

Ali, look forward to hearing what your new adhesive is!
I started using the Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller adhesive after your rave reviews. Bought quite a bit of it and loved it until recently. Think I got a bad batch because the last batch of them would end up releasing too much tape at one time...became frustrating! Wonder if I am the only one with this experience? Please share when you find a new favorite!! Thank you!

Love my yellow ATG gun - but find it large so I found the Glue GLider Pro - much smaller , fits in my tote and is easy to use and refill ~~~

Tombow has a dot alternative it is the Craft Collection Permanent Adhesive Dot Runner in the Diamond Pattern. It achieves the same result as the Dot n ROller. I Manage an LSS and we sell tons once I get it into their hands!!

Ali - I just did the same thing - tested out a bunch of different adhesives and found that the Tombo Mono permanent dots are almost exactly like the Kyoko. In fact the dispenser feel the same in your hand. They also have a slightly larger dispenser that works good too. I'd say go with TOMBO!

I am also so sad about Kokuyo! I got several people addicted to it and now what? Thank heavens I have about a dozen rolls stashed, but then, I will be looking for a new adhesive too. I actually try to use Glue Dots as much as I can to save on the Kokuyo!

I love the Glue Glider Pro! The refills are easy-to-replace cartridges instead of the rolls of tape for the ATG. I have the red ATG and no longer use it!

My red ATG is a dream. You basically don't have to think about your main go-to glue anymore. You just buy up a dozen refills, and because it holds 36 YARDS you don't even have to change it very often. Because it sticks so well, the 1/4-inch is fine and if you have to lift something up you can if you're careful. It occurs to me it's kind of a "green" choice with so much glue on one refill spool.

I like you am looking and holding off on the atg - I actually have resorted to rubber cement! It is very forgiving ... I need a lot of forgiveness! and it holds better then some of the tapes ever did for me.

Love my yellow ATG! Totally worth the investment. Never gets lost when my table is piled with stuff...and it's very easy and portable. Everything else pales in comparison to it.
