Dear Kokuyo Dot-N-Roller I Will Miss You So
Tags:
Yes, it's pretty silly and a tad melodramatic to be sad at the loss of my favorite adhesive.
But when you work with adhesive as much as I do, and you finally find one that is reliable and feels darn good in your hand, it's a big bummer to have it go away. Yep, in case you haven't heard yet Kokuyo will not be distributing the Dot N Roller in the US anymore.
I am starting to test out some other permanent brands including the Tombow Mono, the Therm-O-Web Memory Tape Runner (I like many of their other adhesives), and the 3L Easy Runner (which I don't like as much because I found that I like dots rather than tabs). I am still resisting that Scotch ATG mainly because it seems so big and bulky, but I might just have to try it after reading so many positive reviews both in comments here and elsewhere. If you use the ATG do you use the red one or the yellow one? Does it go on like dots or tabs?
So what are you testing out or using now?

The red ATG for me. I tend to be a bit enthusiastic with my adhesive. I also use the 3L Easy Runner when I need a small amount.

Tombow Mono is my favorite! It's easy to put in the refill, and I buy them at Michaels with a 40% coupon.

I am a custom stationery designer, mostly high end wedding invites. I am known for precise execution and assembly of difficult materials. This would not be possible without that 3M tape gun! We have 6 in the studio here! Love them!!!!!

Totally shocked about the Kokuyo situation! My friend in Toronto Canada owns a scrapbook store. I asked what they recommend. She said Duck Easy Stick. I had never heard of it. Yesterday I picked it up at JoAnn's. A four pack cost about $15.00. With a 40% coupon it was a pretty good price per foot. Instead of dots it is little bars of permanent adhesive. So far it seems to work really well. My only complaint is it isn't very green because you can't buy refills. Interested o see what you think of the ATG. I hate the idea of that huge thing tking up space on my work table.

Another one with an ATG, and I'll never go back - it's not bulky or heavy (which were my main concerns before getting one), and it really is cost effective and a roll lasts ages. I have the yellow one, mainly because I haven't seen the red ones here in the UK! I agree with the other commenters who say that it really is the best investment I have made in scrapbooking.

I've been using the Red ATG for about 6 months. It was hard to get used to because of its size, but now I really like it. Still grab my smaller applicator from time to time, but for the most part I am using the big red roller!

Loved the my Tombo until I got down to the last third of the roll and then it would build up glue at the edges of the despenser. Then the issues would begin. It was always a nightmare to finish the roll.

I love, love, love my ATG...I use the red one since I prefer 1/4" tape. No dots though...just continuous tape. Absolutely love it.

I have had the yellow ATG for a few years now and hardly ever use anything else. I love it. The adhesive sticks so well. And it's big but not heavy.

I am trying out Duck Easy stick right now. The first pack I really liked! It was a nice continuous sticky tape that was perfect for small or big stuff. Then, the second batch I bought said "new and improved" ... or something like. Well, now I am not as much of a fan. They switched it to a tab form. I am not really into the tabs. They just are not user-friendly to me.

OMG! I was wondering what happened!! I was at my local supply store this weekend and NO Kokuyo. So I looked all over the internet and NO Kokuyo. I don't know if I can go on without it.

I am fond of Tombow Mono. (I order refills from Craft For Less online.) I probably shouldn't speak up though, since I've been primarily digital for 2 years now... I don't use adhesive nearly as much as I once did.... :) Though I'm starting to pick it up again some.

Cathy, NO! Put down the rubber cement! I know it smells like fun, but really...
I like the Xyron tape runner. Really sticky and doesn't break!
For most stuff, however, I use the tombo glue stick and a paint brayer. Got the idea from Erin Lincoln, and I love it! I use less and it holds everything down.

I also think you should try the Glue Glider Pro (pink and green). It's awesome!

I use the yellow ATG gun. It applies a long line of adhesive...but it is so easy to use and it works great. I highly recommend the ATG.

I have used and loved the Tombo Mono Permanent for years, but a friend recently recommended the Ad-Tech which cost a bit less.. so I have them on order and look forward to giving them a try! A system much like the Tombo Mono. My friend has been using with much success (and she's a picky one!).

I use the yellow ATG gun and it is fabulous!!!! The adhesive is like a tape runner adhesive. I love the fact that it sticks to everything. Also, I use the 60 yard rolls so I can go a while without refilling.

I have the red ATG gun and absolutely LOVE it! You can get the adhesive relatively cheap too, which is always a bonus.

I had not heard about the Dot N Roller. That makes me really sad. I guess I need to go try to stock up. I received the Glue Glider as part of a class at Scrap Fest. I said I would never use one, but they are actually really great. I find I have much more control with those than I expected.

Had a Scotch red in color. I intensely disliked it.
Normally I don't have problems reloading adhesives but this was horrid. Even my husband couldn't get it to work properly. The adhesive was a hit and miss situation. Needless to say, I dumped it.
I now use Sookwang through Scor-Pal. It is fab! I can get it in differant widths, it sticks evenly, and doesn't grab my hand, table, the dog...
