Saying Goodbye To Studio A
Tags:
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

I am sorry about this, but I honestly am only receiving CK as fulfillment of my Simple subscription. I honestly spend a lot more time getting ideas on line and I am grateful for you and grateful that your work will continue.

Your article is by far my favorite and more than once I've torn it out for an inspiration piece. It will be missed. As you are woking on LO could you post more of them on you blog so we can see them here? Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Ali -
You are such a unique, open, kind and generous individual -- and that is always reflected in your layouts, journaling and willingness to share and help all of us who follow you and love your approach and style. Your philosophy about scrapbooking and life is so appealing and I will greatly miss having some of that in print via CK. I will continue to follow you and your scrapbooking genious in whatever venues you choose for yourself. That's what is exciting - I feel that there are many opportunities for you; the world is at your fingertips!
I hope you are at peace with the decision to leave and looking forward to whatever life has in store for you! Best of luck to you and I'll be watching to see where you land. :)

I agree with the other who have already posted. Your work and that colum was always the FIRST thing that I turned to in the magazine.
I loved Becky's sketches and your colum. Now both are gone :( with everything there is change and I wish you all the best.

Oh no! I'm so bummed out! CK has been my favorite all time magazine and I've noticed changes these past few months. Losing Becky and now, you, is a huge hit to them. While the new people coming into the magazine are still excellent, I'm wondering about the overall quality of the magazine. It feels like we (the readers) know you all personally because of seeing your work month after month. We watch you live your lives through reading your SB pages and seeing those sweet babies being born, and grow, first bdays, etc. I, for one, will most definitely miss you Ali!
But, that being said, congrats to you that there are bigger things out there! We'll just see you every day in your blog. :)
Best of luck to you, Ali! You go girl!!

Your column will be sadly missed. It was my only reason for picking up the CK magazine. Each month I have clipped out and saved every Studio A in page protectors safely stashed in a binder which I pull out more than I can say. Thanks for all the unending inspiration!!

CK will definitely not be the same without you! Studio A is my most dog-eared/torn out for reference pages of CK. I continue to gain inspiration from it all the time.
Thanks for all you do Ali!

I too have ended my relationship with CK. My main reasons for the magazine was looking at the articles You, Lisa B and Becky wrote. I admire the 3 of you! I loved your work! I loved your inspiration!! I love watching your families grow!!!
I found great joy from them. I also have found that most of the other articiles and information just didn't appeal to me personally!
I am deeply saddened by the choice of Creating Keepsakes.
Thank you for this blog! It is a daily stop for me and a great source of inspiration and encouragement! Keep doing what you are doing Ali!! We love you!!

I am so sorry to lose your column from CK. Yours, Becky Higgins and Jennifer McGuire were my favorites. I love reading your blog. Sounds like it was mutual. I would imagine the deadlines might be hard to adhere to. Wishing you all the best!

I'm really sorry to hear this - I always flip to your section first before reading the rest of the magazine. You have such a gift and give so much goodness to the world. I'm grateful to know you'll still be blogging and creating and sharing, even if it isn't through CK.

Wow. Ditto to all the previous comments. Studio A is the first thing I turn to when I receive my issues. Plus, I check your blog daily for MORE tidbits from you. You have a loyal following of well-wishers and you will be successful in any new creative endeavor. We all look forward to your next chapter. Best wishes.

I'm just wondering what the future CK is going to look like? It seems like the new buyers of CK are taking away the essence of the magazine. I will miss your column Ali!
