Saying Goodbye To Studio A
Tags:
The December issue of Creating Keepsakes is the last issue for my monthly Studio A column.
Studio A debuted back in January 2006 (the first theme was scrapbooking your intentions). Each month since then I have been given the opportunity to create pages & projects that were interesting & inspiring to me at the time. Over the years CK gave me a ton of freedom to decide my own content/topics and allowed me to find & maintain my own voice in the pages of the magazine. For that gift I am extremely grateful.
I am also especially thankful to my column editor Lori Fairbanks who was always able to take what I had written and make it flow and fit the space available.
The decision to end the column was mutual; the editors and I both felt like it was time for a number of reasons. I am very thankful to CK for the opportunity and the experience. I am currently working with the magazine to gain access to the Studio A PDF's to add to the initial archive located here. I will let you know when those files are updated.
Will you still see my pages & projects in Creating Keepsakes? At this time, no (you may potentially see some feature articles from me in the future but nothing is currently scheduled).
Right now I am making plans for what's next for me. I will continue blogging. I will continue designing products for Designer Digitals and Technique Tuesday. I hope to do more online education. I will continue telling my stories and making stuff. I am looking forward to moving forward.
I am also very thankful for all of you who have read my column over the last few years and have shared your own stories with me. I love what I do and am so grateful that I get to share my passion for telling stories creatively with photos & words.

Congrats on your decision and moving forward to many new opportunities.
Just like a lot of people, your Studio A was the last thing to keep me subscribing to the magazine. My subscription runs out at the end of the year and I wasn't going to renew. Your announcement makes my decision offical. Which I'm actually relieved about - so thank you!

Congrats on the exciting adventure for you Ali!! It's always hard to say goodbye but I must commend you for doing it so gracefully, I'd expect nothing less. :)
Looking forward to seeing and hearing about the journey you are on. All the best!!!!

I TOTALLY echo the sentiments already stated here about your articles in CK. It was one of the only reasons I continued my subscription AND the only thing I kept from each issue. BUT...I'm excited to see what you have in the works. So glad to see that you are thinking about more online classes as I am thoroughly enjoying Yesterday & Today. Sign me up!! Best wishes Ali!!

I was just getting over the fact that Becky is leaving and now you too! I hope that you have a great and fun time finding out what is next for you. I love your column and your blog. I'm working on my first December Daily this year and it has been so much fun so far. Good Luck on your next chapter!

On again I am in the same boat as the others. Your column is the ONLY reason I continue to subscribe to CK. I love the ideas and the everday. It looks as if there is no reason to subscribe again when it runs out. Excited to see what you have going on next and maybe in the future we will see another book. Loving the online stuff!!

Ali- It is so sad to see that your are leaving CK. I loved Studio A. Ck seems to be losing all of their reasons for reading and what made it a good mag to read.
I will be following you to see what you are up to. :) I love your DD stuff. :)

No Becky, now no Ali, hmmm...weird...I can't imagine a CK issue without the 2 of you in it, but I do know that change is good & perhaps you will have some awesome online classes that we can take. I like the idea of short ones that we can fit in over the weekend, or even online crops with you...but I'm sure you have your own ideas & at least I can still read your blog ;-D

Your column has been my favorite since it began. I will really miss it! Thanks for all your wonderful work - it's inspired many of my own pages, and helped me find joy in creating perfectly imperfect pages. Good luck in your future endeavors - I hope I'll still get to see a lot of your work out there. :)

Wow, I am really disappointed. I probably wouldn't have renewed my subscription if it weren't for your articles. I have really enjoyed reading them! I will still enjoy your blog.
That said, best of luck to you in your new endeavors. Thank you for your openness and your willingness to share. Your art and the meaning behind it is inspirational.

Ali,
I started scrapbooking in 2004 in order to work on my little boy's baby book...I floundered around quite a bit as nothing I saw in magazines looked like it fit my vision of the book (my gifts are many, but somewhat lacking in the "vision" department...). Then when I saw your article in CKs Top 10 (2005, I think?), I said to myself, "Yes! Finally, someone wants to put more than one photo on the page! Someone wants to write a little bit, too! And, I can definitely groove with these designs."
Thanks for influencing how I approach this craft and "envisioning" a bit for me, too.
I'll miss that gem of a column.

Honestly, with both you and Jessica leaving, my favorite parts of the magazine are gone. Don't see a reason to keep looking at it. I love Yesterday & Today class. I'll look forward to more of that. Thanks for all your inspiration!

Well, this is a big bummer, I must say. I have enjoyed your column every issue. It was always a treat to come to your column as I flipped through the issues. I love your style and your passion for telling stories with words and photos, while keeping the focus on the *words and stories* (and not all the stuff that can come with them!). I am so glad your blog will continue and that we will still have an opportunity to see your work and share your life with you in some way.
So glad you have shared your talents with us all these years! Looking forward to seeing what's to come!
(What will we do without you, Becky Higgins and Simple Scrapbooks' Cathy Zielske??? Three of my favorite scrappers. I miss you all already...but still love your blogs!)
