Project Life | Weeks Twenty-Seven, Twenty-Eight, and Twenty-Nine
Tags:While I work on putting together my Week In The Life album I wanted to share updates to my Project Life album.
Playing catch up with the last three weeks of Project Life (still need to do Week Thirty - last week). After going camping and then to the coast with friends and then Week In The Life it took me a bit of time to get all caught up. Love the feeling of having it all set in this album.
First up is Week Twenty-Seven.
This was the 4th of July and then our family camping trip. I notoriously take very few 4th of July shots and this year was not any different. I'm totally fine with that as our week was really more about our camping adventure.
Inserts include a 6x12 divided page protector from American Crafts. Looks like these are back in stock at Scrapbook.com if you're interested in adding them to your collection - they are such an easy way to add more photos. I like to add a plastic file tab along the side to add a title/note.
The second insert is an 8.5x11 We Are Memory Keepers page protector. The front is a printed email that I'm not showing for privacy reasons about our camping trip.
I took a screen shot of my blog post about what was happening with Lily and printed it on Epson Matte paper (on a Mac the keyboard strokes for a screen shot like this is to hold down shift + command + 4 + the space bar and click). I'm testing out a new Epson Stylus Photo R2000 and it's working really nice. A bunch of the 4x6 photos this week were also printed with that printer. I'd like to do this (screen shot of my blog) more as it's a nice way to actually place the content that I'm often just copying and pasting from my blog into my album.
One of my favorite things this week was that Chris and Simon (and even Anna) wrote a bit about what they loved about camping. I just need to ask.
On to Week Twenty-Eight.
On Sunday of our camping adventure we ended up packing up camp and heading to my brother and sister-in-laws house in Tacoma (they were camping with us). We had planned to camp until Wednesday but when Lily got sick it we needed to take her to an emergency vet hospital and Tacoma was closest.
The scariness of Lily's illness was one thing. Being able to stay with cousins for a few extra days at their house was really special.
I took the Learning To Ride post and copied and pasted the journaling onto a 6x4 Story Overlay. I've got a post that will walk you through the steps of doing that in both Word and Photoshop here (video tutorial).
The label sticker on the journal card above is from October Afternoon.
And finally, Week Twenty-Nine.
Week Twenty-Nine included time with friends and then mostly adjusting to being back home once again.
Because I had less photos for this week I ended up getting creative with what I did have. I could have taken this big sheet of 12x12 white paper that Simon wrote on and used it as an insert. Instead I decided to cut it into two, 4x6 pieces and add it into the bottom two pockets. I added a small tag to include some context about why Simon had written this sweet note.
Simon and I saw the last Harry Potter on Thursday - we loved it!
OVERALL OBSERVATION | I found it tougher to do this after the fact and definitely know that I enjoy it much more when we are just here at home and it's easy to add as life happens. I also found myself hurrying through and I didn't really like that feeling either - I like being able to focus on one week at a time. So what would I do different next time we are traveling? I'm not sure. Maybe that's just the way it is...

i always enjoy your project life posts. i'm currently creating an 8 1/2 album for my week in the life project. i am using your 2010 approach. i'm thinking about uploading my finished pages to scrapbookpictures.com but was wondering if i should check their box says "auto correct" or "no auto correct?" do you have any suggestions. i will be using some of your digital papers in my pages.

Hi Libbi - I'm pretty sure that I choose "no auto correct" especially if I've done any of the corrections myself before uploading.

That picture of Anna and Chris on the top right corner of week 28 reminds me a lot of one of your layouts of Simon and Chris (I think there was a newspaper clipping about new legislation related to speech therapy). So very sweet :) And kind of fun to observe the relationship of daddy's with their sons vs. daddy's with their daughters, and how special those relationships are.

I'm with you. It took me over a week to finish week 28 because it involved my daughter's first birthday party. My husband, father and I went nuts with the pictures that day. I ended up adding 2 extra 12x12 4x6 page protectors just to fit all the photos I wanted to include. By the time I was done, it was past time to do week 29 and I didn't want to do it. I made myself, just to get it done. Week 30 was much more enjoyable then, because I had several days of a break.

Thank you for getting me hooked on this project. You are amazing and I'm so thankful that I'm now actually documenting {tangibly} my itty bitties and all that we do on a daily basis. Thanks for introducing Becky Higgins {and her blog} to me! You are an inspiration!!!

Thank you for such detailed information, from the great pics along the way, helpful tips, links, etc. One question, is Lily ok? I didn't see anything about it.

She is - she's on some medication and a special diet but is doing really well.
