For The Love Of Laughing
Tags:Sometimes it can be painfully obvious to myself that I might be a little too serious.
Last night Anna I and climbed onto her bed to read some of her new library books.
The first one she picked out is called Walter The Farting Dog.
Okay, ha, ha. Sounds funny and silly and perfect for my three-year-old who loves nothing more than saying any number of phrases related to poop.
I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.
And I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard with her.
And I know she liked that because I could see the surprise and delight on her face at seeing my laughing so effortlessly.
I bet we'll read it again tonight.

I've seen a little plush Walter for sale somewhere before... might be fun to add him to your home as a reminder to giggle about something totally ridiculous from time to time ; )

Other good books are the "David" series. They are hilarious too.

For years I tried to inject "passing gas" into my son's vocabulary. It was a fruitless and thankless effort. Sixteen years later, I am so glad I gave up. "Farting" has provided endless laughs and a new family tradition of finding the next great greeting card related to farting. Classy and cultural? No. But oh so much fun! My parents are even in on it!

Fun!
Nothing like a little toilet humour to get you laughing your pants off - no pun intended ;)

Wonderful! I had completely forgotten all about this book. My mom bought it for my nephews several years ago. I bet my Lilly would just love it & I was not aware there were more Walter books. My Mom gave Lilly My Goat Gertrude by Starr Dobson for Christmas. We have only read it once so far, but she enjoyed it. May be one for your reading list with Anna. I am most definitely adding Walter to Lilly's list.

Ha! Anna is a girl after my own heart - that book's a favorite in our library! Ours actually came with a little stuffed Walter and when you squeeze his tummy, he farts :) Be sure to check out the other Walter books "Banned from the Beach" and "Trouble at the Yard Sale"

I am guilty of loving toilet bowl humour...passed it on to my kids as well. I will definitely have to find this book. I can already imagine my husband reading it to them and filling in any dead space with delightful sound effects.

We got this book for one of my client's, he's a very special needs child and this is exactly what broke the ice for him and the family. The speech therapist used this book over and over to work on words etc. Adding humor to all the difficult treatments is what this family needed (and me) :)

You should try the series Binky the Space Cat too (especially now that you have George). He eats "aliens" (i.e., flies) to protect his humans even though they give him "space gas" which is bad enough that his little stuffed toy mouse covers his nose!! :)

I think Stacy Julian had this one on her blog a while back, but I had to replace quite a few books lately and one that my 3 year old son loves (he even has some memorized) is Tickle Monster by Josie Bissett. He and dad sit down and read it. A tickle monster comes and you tickle your child as you read. It has been fun for him.

This is AWESOME! Thanks for the reminder:)
One my daughters' favorite books (& a fav. children's author of mine) is called "Smelly Socks" by Robert Munsch. I think Anna would love his books too - http://robertmunsch.com/.

One of our ALL TIME FAVORITES. Our 7 year old came home not too long ago and reported that her 2nd grade class had been banned from the part (up the road from school). All I could think of was the Walter sequel "Walter the Farting Dog: Banned from the Beach"...we reference Walter books A LOT around here... :)
