My good friend Leslie sent me some quotes today. It is amazing how words can step right into our lives:

Youth has the resilience to absorb disaster and weave it into the pattern of its life, no matter how anguishing the thorn that penetrates its flesh. (Sholem Asch, 1880-1957)

As we learn more about autism and the many, many different theories and therapies and opinions, my thoughts are focused on what will make Simon's life more full. Normal is a word that makes me laugh...it does not exist. We all have things about ourselves that make our lives more challenging; quirks that make us unique; pleasures that bring us joy.

I know that no matter what, Simon will be ok. His has a great spirit. A wonderful laugh. Eyes that sparkle.

And we continue to move forward...weaving everything into the pattern of our lives...making it deeper and richer and fuller.
