Simon was here.
Tags:Chris and I have a saying around here when we come across a sign of Simon's existence: Simon was here. He is really very talented at leaving traces of himself. A couple days ago I walked into my studio and there, between my table and my shelving unit, were his PJ's and a diaper. Part of his morning routine. The shedding of his night time clothes. He does this most days, but usually in front of the TV. It was a special treat to have them in the studio.
We find other little signs of Simon everyday, most of the time they are little things. Like an unwrapped cough drop next to my bedside table (he takes them out but does not put them in his mouth). His blanket left in the bathtub. The covers of our bed pulled up like only two little hands could create. Simple little things. Things that make us laugh and smile in our hearts.
Have a really nice weekend. Focus on those little things. We are so very thankful that Simon is here.

Hi Ali...Just found your blog while looking around for "stuff" regarding scrapbooking, autism, etc. My name is Maureen and I am a member at 2Peas. I go by tannersnonni. I am the one that wrote you about the "A" on eBay. Remember? I saw you won it! Cool! Anyway... I have been so busy I hadn't read or heard about the NBC special on autism. Thanks for sharing that. I am sorry to hear about Simon's diagnosis. My eight year old grandson was diagnosed with autism as well this past December. I can relate to the feelings you are going thru. We will all continue to research and learn how to handle and minimize this problem. Most of all I pray everyday for Tanner and Simon and all the other children that are being diagnosed with this syndrome. I called my daughter first thing when I read your post and passed on the word about the morning show. Thanks again for sharing your heart.
take care....maureen

Ali--what a sweet photo and I love the expression you two use. You have such an amazing way of seeing things. I will make it my goal this weekend to focus on the little things---maybe I'll even find something that is scrapworthy! Hope you and your family have a great weekend, take care!

That picture made me smile Ali. I'll have to remember your joy when I'm picking up yet another candy wrapper/shoes/clothes etc. that my kids leave all over as proof they were there. ;)

Ali, that is such a sweet sentiment. The photo tells it all and it's so cute that Simon left his little "presents" for you in your studio. When my Huey was Simon's age, he had a Thomas the Tank Engine train that he would tell us "this one is a little scary, mama." Every day I would find that little train hidden behind the book case and every day I would put it back in his train box. Sure enough, the next day it was back in it's hiding place. You are so right. It's the little things that make you smile.

Ali-
Someone (a fellow scrapper) sent me the link to your blog. I'm floored to find out about Simon. I too am going through the testing and evaluations for my son, Edward. Thanks for sharing your perspective-and for reminding me that it IS the little things that matter.
(((hugs)))
