Your very own cheerleader.
Tags:Saturday's have become grocery day around here. We have been working
on a cash grocery budget - sometimes we can make it on one trip a week
and other times I end up going again mid-week. Simon and I go while
Chris is at Tai Chi - I usually get Simon a corn dog or some other
thing for him to chomp on while we make our way around the market. He
loves corn dogs.
Today he was chattering so much while we shopped. He had this little toy apple that he kept throwing on the ground (gotta love that one)
and saying "where is it?" I let him keep doing it because it was just
so cool to hear him using those words. "Orange" is another word that is
now coming in loud and clear. Also, "o-k" is now being used instead of
just "k." I just want to cheer for him so loud when he belts these
things out...and you know what...I do. I yell out "woo-hoo"
and "nice one, buddy" when he says something great in the store (or
wherever), but it is particularly fun in the grocery store. Old women
stare, the young hippie clerks laugh, moms with kids smile. And I just
keep on cheering.
One of my favorite things is coming home from the grocery store and
putting everything away. Love that "full" feeling of being all stocked
up. I even washed and cut up all the vegetables. I am not claiming that
happens every week, but it did today. And I had been out of real coffee
(vs. decaf) for the last two days so as soon as I got home I made up a
nice big pot just for me.
Need to get back to work on my odds and ends for the next CKU coming
up here in a couple weeks. Got my list of things to be done...just need
to get on it. Been procrastinating the last few days, just feeling
tired overall.

Hey Ali---too funny to hear that you, too, like going to the store and coming home to full cupboards!! My friends think I'm nuts because I love our trip to the grocery store. Especially love the feeling of opening the cupboards and seeing them stocked up! Had to smile :-) Great news that Simon is talking so much---keep on cheering!

Grocery shopping is my all-time favorite errand or chore. I love wandering the aisles, exploring, finding new products. Trying new things (hello brie with smoked raspberry chipolte sauce on top, mmmm, so nice to meet you). That stocked up feeling--there's nothing else like it.

Simon is the luckiest kid to have you as a mom. I'm jealous. I want you as a mom. To have a personal cheerleader...man, that is some good advice for all parents, huh?
indeed.
