Adventures from the road.
Tags:Chris and Simon had their first taste of a scrapbook convention Friday and Saturday in Portland. Simon ran around and around during the crop Friday night and attempted to escape any time he could from Chris' clutches on Saturday during the vendor faire. Cool to have them there but not so easy logistically.
And of course no out of town adventure is complete without a midnight trip to the Emergency room.
Friday night we went back to the hotel and were getting ready for bed. Simon kept putting his hand on his ear. He finally fell asleep but then kept waking up and crying - hard enough that we knew something was obviously up. So we call the front desk, find out where the nearest hospital was located, and off we went into the night. Luckily Legacy Emmanuel was super close to the hotel - and come to find out they have a children's emergency room = great, kind, kid-friendly docs. Let me preface all this by saying that Simon is not fond of doctor's offices - he can smell them a mile away. That certain look of fear comes over him as soon as we are in the vincinity. Whenever we find a doctor or a facility like the one we visited we are so very thankful.
Come to find out, Simon has an ear infection. His first one in three years of life. A bit of anti-biotics, some ear drops, and a little tylenol with codine and we were on our way back to the motel. He slept awesome the rest of the night...from about 2am (when we got back) to 9am.
At 10am I was due back at the CK booth for my second round of signings. I signed books on Friday as well - always fun to chat with other scrapbookers. Love hearing their stories. Love just talking about scrapbooking. And love seeing people I have met in the past. Just such a great network of creative women.
And of course, I had to do a bit of shopping while I was there. Here are some of the cool things I picked up:
• Wild Asparagus by My Mind's Eye : so, so cool
• Crossed Paths : faith-based papers with a more sophisticated look
• Scrapworks Tailored Essentials : yumma yumma
• and some cool things from The Weathered Door
I know there is more to tell - need to get back in the groove around here first. Happy Sunday!

Hi Ali,
This is my first time here on your blog. Heather Preckel links to you and I followed that over. I just started my own blog yesterday, isn't it fun? Anyway, sorry to hear about your little boy's ear infection. I remember when my son was little, he got them so often. I remember how very painful they were. I was tickled to see you list Crossed Paths in your list of cool things! I design for Lisa over at CP and it is really exciting to see that someone who is big in the industry spoke well of our new product line!
Sincerely,
Angie Head

Sorry to hear about Simon's midnight adventure, A. :( Earaches are never fun, but they're even less so when out of town, I'm sure. Glad he got some rest afterwards, tho'.
