Love the journey...
Tags:"Traveling mercies,"...this is what they always say when one of us goes off for awhile. Traveling mercies: love the journey, God is with you, come home safe and sound."
One of my favorite books is Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott. I have talked about it on here before - it was one that I savored by just reading one little chapter a night. I finally finished it up last night...and I have her follow up book on hand to begin once I finish Reading Lolita In Tehran.
It is about life. And death. And faith. And a mother and her son.
And so I am off again, this time up to Portland for the Oregon Scrapbook Convention. This was the first convention I attended a couple years back - and met my dear friend Tracy in person after emailing daily for months. Love that memory. We also hooked up with Karen there - had dinner and drinks and chatted away. That was really the beginning for each of us in our repsective places in the industry: designing, writing, creating. We were giddy with anticipation about the next chapter of our lives. A few years have gone by now. We have each learned so much on our individual journeys. And we each still love what we are doing.

So glad you pointed out Anne Lamott's sequel to Traveling Mercies. I'm a huge Anne Lamott fan, so I'm glad I won't be missing this one! :) If you haven't read Bird by Bird, you have to. It's about so much more than writing!

So looking forward to seeing you at the convention, Ali. I remember meeting you, Tracy and Karen at that convention a few years ago, and it was so obvious you were all *going places* in the industry. Such talent between you three! See you soon :)

Glad you found the toy for Simon, hope he is feeling better. Have a successful and safe trip. Wonder if anyone knows of a book swap site, I would love to read some of the before mentioned books.
Cheers!

I mostly finished Lolita in Tehran a while back. But I have this problem with nonfiction. I never think it is imperative to read it at one time. I ususally start and then go back. But this one is not like that. I definitely need to go back to it (and finish it this time). It's a great book. I'm just too easily sidetracked.
