Celebrating.

CitySitting in the Minneapolis airport this morning (waiting for my delayed flight of course) I was catching up on some of my favorite blogs. One thing I was struck by as I read was the emphasis on celebrating life. Celebrating friendships. Celebrating what is good and true and lovely and real...and lending support for those times when it is most needed. It was uplifting. And just so nice.

That is what I love about blogs. This sense of celebration.

This is also what I have come to love about attending CKU's. It is there that scrapbooking is celebrated. Being around 600 other women (and a couple men) who share the same passion for recording memories, for working with their hands, for telling stories - is an amazing, uplifting, inspiring adventure.

I remember my first experience at CKU - it was a very emotional experience for me. I was touched by so many things. By the teachers. And my classmates. All of these people who were there because they LOVED scrapbooking as much as me - it was crazy and wonderful. I try to take this sense of emotion with me each time I go now to teach - to remember what it felt like for me the first time I was surrounded by so many kindred spirits.

CKU has become for me a chance to celebrate friendships as well. Women that I took classes from in Vancouver have become my friends - some of them very good friends. Spending time with Donna and Cathy before CKU this time around was just awesome. It is people like those two (and so many more)...but it is also the new people I meet each time. Smiling faces. Kind words. So very cool.

And you know what? Tonight I get to celebrate with Chris and Sting.
