So you want to talk about scrapbooking?

I have the same questions/remarks as Paige regarding your point of depature and process. For example, do you commit first to the number and size of pictures to include and then go from there? (I realize its probably not the same for each layout.) I would love to see an example of how you went about pulling a layout together -- step by step thought process. I spend so much time just getting started. Any recommendations? Thanks Ali -- you are such an inspiration!

One of the things that concerns me about scrapbooking trends is whether or not five or ten years down the line my pages and projects will look horribly dated. Please don't think that I am saying that your stuff will look dated...part of why I like your work is that you have a fabulous, timeless sense of style, but I was wondering what you thought about this topic. Are you concerned about things looking out of date in the future? Or should I just think of the things that I create now as records of who I am at this moment in time? Or...?

Hey Ali,
I would love to see more of your space also, and to find out more on how you've set it up so it functions well. I have a small room that I am struggling with and would love to see your set up.
Also would like to know on average how many photos do you usually take per week? Seems like you always have that perfect shot.

I would like to hear your "story"...what you did professionally before you were "Ali Edwards, Scrapbook Diva"...why and when you started scrapbooking...how you fell into your style...how you went about getting published in magazines...the process you took to get from unknown scrapbooker to celebrity status...

I don't have a question, but I did want to take this on-topic moment to say THANKS for changing the way I use paper (if I haven't said this before...and even if I have, it is worth saying again)! Taking your class in Bellingham completely changed my patterned paper ways (I used to just pull PP from the same line...already perfectly matched)...and I've discovered that *un*perfectly matched is a much better way to go! You rock, Ali! Plain and simple!

My scrapping question for you is: how do you layout your craft space area? I'm moving into a new house and am looking for ways to maximize my space! Thanks for your help!

I'll second a question mentioned above: how you get a layout started? I always feel overwhelmed by the amount of product and choices. Even if I have "a vision" of the story I want to tell like you talk about in your book, conveying that story on paper visually (not necessarily through the words) is the hard part for me.

I do this and it frustrates me.
1---do you ever not include all photos you wanted to include on a LO, becuase they didn't look good or ruined the design or ruined what you thought was a good page? Or do you just do the ugly page anyway?
2---have you ever left off some journaling that you wanted to include because you ran out of room?

Not necessarily scrapbook-related, but how do you get your photos to be large on Typepad? Every time I insert one from my computer it's a thumbnail that you have to click to enlarge........Just curious because yours always look perfect........Is Photoshop the answer? Thanks!

i really only scrapbook my favorite photos or ones that help me tell my story (as opposed to every event & holiday) SO...
what do you do with all of the photos you don't scrapbook? do you organize them in a certain way on your computer?

I was wondering if you do a lot of albums in different sizes, or if you usually just stick to the 12 x 12. It is always easy to just do what you are used to, but there are so many cool albums out there I wondered if you have a lot of different sizes. Thanks.

What was it like to see yourself in Creating Keepsakes for the first time?

ali i have had a lot on my mind concerning scrapbooking...struggling with my style, struggling with coming up with my own ideas, struggling with the desire to be published, struggling to "do" instead of waiting for the perfect picture or paper or embellishment.
Any thoughts?
Is it possible to be too plain too simple? I often wonder if i struggle because i was just not meant for this industry...am i going against me.
i love you book, i love your work. you are so inspiring. i am amazed at how creative you are in scrapbooking and in art in general. thank you for sharing. missed you in the garden this month.
BTW how long does it take you to do a LO from start to finish...generally.

Hi Ali -
I'd like to know about how many pages you create per week, on average. Then, how do you carve out the time to do them.
Do you actually scrapbook for you and your family, or are your design "assignments" the only LO's you get to? I'm finding it difficult to get my design team assignments done and still have the time to make projects for myself. Can you please address this?
