Stand.
Had a bit of time tonight to play with my art journal. It has been neglected as I travel and work on other, more linear, projects for the magazine.
Man, this medium is addicting. I love it. Sometimes I want to live it. I love the sense of play and experimentation and just slap-that-down-
there-and-go-for-it. I also love the layers. The depth of meaning that is translated through all the "stuff" mixed onto the page. Or, it can mean nothing at all. Existing for the pure joy of play. Cool.
This page was assigned to begin with the word stand - and where I went from there was up to me.
Journaling: In the face of everything we get up each day and put one foot in front of the other. Standing up and moving forward...just moving at whatever our pace. It is simply in the standing up that we survive. In the midst of it all...we stand. We may feel like crawling. And yet, we stand. One foot in front of the other. Moving. Going. Maybe just standing still. Such is the life we encounter. The process of getting up, standing, moving forward.
It may be awhile before I can do another page. But I love that it is there. Waiting for me.
And I just have to say thanks again to Shimelle for putting together this amazing art journal adventure. Not sure you will ever truly know the impact this has made on my own journey. Hope our paths cross in person one of these days.
Great new banner, Ali! A great photo of yourself. I need to get better at the whole banner thing. Mine really don't have that umph! that your's and others do. Guess I just need to sit and play with Photoshop for a while. What dimensions do you set your banner to? Maybe that would help me get started!

This is really great!
I would never have thought to attach the petals with staples. Crazy :-)
I just used those and used the big fancy mm brads to adhere them. (the name of those brads escapes me right now lol!) The project is up on my blog, if you have a moment to leave some feedback on it, I'd sure be flattered ;-)

Hum.. am I doing this right? Never posted on a BLOG before. Wonder if I will get into trouble? HELLOOOOOOOO Ali?? anyone there? hum.. well okay then! just wanted to say when I saw this last week I got really inspired (as I usually do when I hang with you). Well I have started my own now. It's going to be my travel journal. About the places I go and have gone since I started working. The people I have met, the good times and the bad times I have had. The lessons I have learned and have learned NOT to do again. (go all night without sleep and expect to live to see the next day??). I am doing it more for my children. It's hard being a working mom and I don't think my kids will ever know or understand what it is I do. I want something for them to have when they are older that will explain and hopefully shed some insight on why I "always" seem to be gone. Or maybe it will be more for myself.. just to give me a little peace.
well enough talk.. thanks for the inspirtaion.. you rock..
