Lovely.
Tags:Ventured out to do some errands this afternoon. Lovely Oregon weather.
Hit Target and Costco for some essentials: pull-ups, OJ, socks & undershirts for the dude, dog food, white washcloths, etc.
Been to either store lately? Spring has sprung big time. Oh, the loveliness.
Gear for spring. Clothes for spring. Bags and garden stuff and tons of sunshine happiness. LOL and it continues right on raining. But man that stuff is happy.
Walking around the clothes in Target I had a little thanksgiving breakthrough. It struck me once again how different my life is because of scrapbooking. I was thinking about the impact that other people have had on me, people that I have met through scrapbooking. Looking around at the clothing section I was thinking about Elsie and her passion for color and flowers and goodness. Because of her I have continued to open myself up to colors, espeically in my wardrobe. And in my clothing choices I feel I have become more open to little details and patterns and colors...I found the cutest night shirt at Target that is bright green with a sewn on owl in the bottom corner - I saw it and it just made me happy.
That made me think about Jackie & Shelley and how much I have always admired and been inspired by their use of color.
I think my choices of clothing have become a lot more feminine over the last few years as well. Something about art and being creative makes me want to wear skirts. Funky, fun skirts. I don't remember ever being a fun dresser before scrapbooking.
I have also learned that things don't always have to be straight and precise. Tonight I was working on some things for CKU-A and I was using my scissors to cut things up : this is HUGE people. No measuring, no worrying about straight lines. I am liberated. I am letting it go. I am having fun. Keeping it playful. I still love straight lines...but in this case it is more about embracing the imperfections of a non-straight line (and it goes a whole lot quicker).
And another something happy...I got a sneak peek of Carrie's wedding invites today. Seriously happy.

ok, Thanks a lot. I had myself just a little bit too much Target fun today!!! I used to be a regular and then we moved and Target isn't as close as it used to be so I haven't been in a while. Well between you and Donna Dowdy, I was inspired to make a little Target run today. I have projects lined up for blocks. Found some great frames and a wooden box on the clearance for unbelievable prices and couldn't resist. Bought a little linen scrapbook too. Guess I had better get busy. Keep the inspiration coming!

Cutting with scissors instead of a trimmer...is that legal? Wow..sounds scary for me too, but I think I'll try it! Thanks for the inspiration!

Okay, Ali, I get my CK Top 10 in the mail - and what totally catches my eye? That awesome "10" on the cover. I loved it - and of course, I can tell right away it is by you! Why? So cool, colorful and creative. Wow!! Makes me want to make my own version of a "10"! Oh, by the way - I am in Target at least once or twice a week....and I never get out of there with just the stuff I went in for...oh, no...way too easy to fill up my basket!

Ali,
Speaking of fun, funky skirts...check out www.jjill.com. Type in linen-blend appliqued skirt in the search section! Now that is fun and funky! Just thought you might like it, although it is a bit wild! I love it! I can't wait to wear it. Hurry Spring! This is my first post to you, but I check your blog daily. You are truly an inspiration. You got me into scrapbooking. Seventeen albums later, I am hooked. My guy Jack is the same age as Simon.

I am with you--so, so, so done with the rain. I've become addicted to weatherunderground.com--looking for little glimpses of sunshiny hope. I've lived here my whole life, but this winter seems particularly soggy. Especially challenging with little ones. sigh...

I used to be an avid scrapbooker... until I learned how to knit. Then my hands and mind were too tied up (haha) to get back to my scrappin'. It was a good hobby to pick up... we were moving around a lot and my scrapbook supplies were so buried it was too much to think about finding a place for all that stuff.
Anyway, we just bought our first house and now I have a spare bedroom that I'm setting up as my craft room. This in and of itself feels so decadent and I'm sooooo thankful to have the space to finally unpack my craftiness... and mostly the scrapbooking stuff is what has truly spoke to me lately.
Now I'm very aware of how I actually become a different person when I'm scrapping regularly. I'm much more observant, reflective, THANKFUL, in the moment, willing to slow down to create quality time for me and my family. I'm eternally grateful for the hobby of scrapbooking and God bringing it and all its joys BACK in to my life.
... now if I just had time to KNIT! :)

Dear Ali,
I love your talk about clothes. I used to wear black from head to toe. Then I started scrapping about three years ago. I looked in my closet recently and realized that not only is it full of COLOR, but my clothes look like my favorite scrapbooking papers! Stripes, florals, prints...Yes, scrapping has changed the way I dress.

Ali,
Saw this post yesterday, and had to return today to tell you how jealous I was that you had rain and cool weather. Then last night we had a reprieve and got rain and cooler weather. Its been over 100F and sometimes over 110F this week, with the nights humid and discusting. Being in Australia we dont have spring clothing, but the Autumn clothing is out, and I just cant wait. Autumn, lovely days, cool nights.......yay! Autumn leaves falling, crunching thru my feet as I walk...Hmmm!
Enjoy the thought of SPring!
