Seeing & Understanding.
Tags:Checking in from Pien's - it has been a fun day of classes so far - one more to go this evening. Lots of happy faces and lots of tea and coffee (been drinking more tea than coffee this time around). Finding a bit of time to work on my Scrapbook on the Road, collecting the little bits here and there is really such a big part of the fun of the project.
Also taking lots of photos - so many I am excited to share when I get home. My laptop is acting up so I have not uploaded any photos as of yet. Enjoying the process of seeing through the lens as I venture around.
Yesterday, after checking out IKEA (and me so wishing there was one in Oregon - Liz, I need to come visit you guys so we can go there together), Regina, Sjoera and I climbed to the top of the Dom Tower - all 465 steps. Such a cool view of Utrecht from there. After climbing we were all in need of some rest...tomato soup and sandwiches were the answer. Seriously good tomato soup.
Last night we had a workshop for Regina's design team. Loved meeting everyone and figuring out how the class was going to run today (the first round is always interesting). They were all so gracious and kind.
It is always a bit surreal to be in a country where people speak a completely different language that I can't understand most of the time. I find myself imagining what it would be like for me living here...how long it would take me to learn the language, etc. There are always little things here and there that I understand: photo, Heidi Swapp, foam stamp, etc - lots of scrapbooking terms. It makes me smile...that we can understand one another because of a shared passion. So very cool.

Good to hear from you, Ali! I took at peek at the Pien's link and found Regina's blog. Fun pics and I can actually figure out quite a bit of the Dutch from Swedish and German. So cool! Looks like you're having a blast.

Ali,
I am only now just getting to the March CK issue, and I have to say how awed I was my your SB on the Road. The little book, the way you adorned it, everything you saved and how you made it all work so organically,,,,oh me oh my.
I had a thought at the end of last year, about keeping a small book, noting all the kindnesses done to me & for me in the coming year. As often happens, I have procrastinated on it, but the SOTR has inspired me to get after it. Your book, although different in subject, feels similar, and is a good 'jumping off' point.
thanks thanks thanks

Hi Ali,
I just wanted to thank you so much for coming to the Netherlands! You were very, very inspiring during your class. I enjoyed it very much and boy was it hard for me to "embrace imperfection" !!! I hope you will have a safe flight home... Thanks again for everything and I hope to meet you again in the future...
Greetings from Liesbeth

A beautiful vision that a climbed top can provide, shows that the world is much larger than the limitation of our routine problems. Congratulations! I arrived here by chance, but I liked the page a lot! Good luck!

Hey Ali,
I'm not sure how to contact you other than this, but I thought you might enjoy this article about an autistic basket ball player. My husband told me this amazing story and I knew I needed to send it to you... Hope you like it.
