Hanging out.
Tags:Having a nice little break here at my parents house in the Seattle area. Planning to go to a children's museum today and have dinner tonight with the family. Here's a recap of what's been up the last couple of days:
• Taught mom how to use iTunes this morning. And I think I needthis.
• Helped my brother paint my new niece or nephew's bedroom last night while my sister-in-law hung out with Simon.
• Attended an awesome seminar on Thursday morning: Gitomer. Totally inspiring. About sales but even more about life.
• My Dare is posted: The Dares. Love the pages that are on there right now - such great talent and heart and content.
I am also gearing up for a bunch of workshops this summer. Next month I will be in Michigan at The Scrapbook Zone. There are a few spaces still available if you are interested in coming to play.
You can see my full schedule here.
And thanks for all the cool comments on the book post. Lots of new books were mentioned in the comments that I have now added to my reading list.

Hi Ali-
Can't wait to see you at The Zone. I am a teacher there, and will be doing the make and take for the crop on Friday. Like so many others, I can't wait to meet you there.
Also wanted to let you know how much I have appreciated all of your information on Autism this month. We are going through the diagnosis stage with my little guy, and the information you have provided has been priceless. Thank you so much.

Ali, I saw something on ABC this morning and thought of all of the people I read about, like you, who have autistic children. Being a former teacher there is always a way to contact the child within. I thought you might want to see this:

I hope it helps in any way!

Hi Ali! So cool to log on to your blog and see The Zone listed. We can't wait for your arrival at our store!!! For those who went to our site and think the classes are sold out-that is not the case-sadly our 64 person crop is full but Ali is willing to fill our classroom with 64 students per class-so call and register..Having trouble with my web server presently and can't post that info there so I will post the info here. Hope you don't mind Ali!! In regard to the Favorite Photos homework-Ali's just asks that you bring 5 of your favorite 5x7 photos from 2005, all photos must be veritcal or horitzontal in orientation!!! Ali-we are so excited for your visit in a few weeks!!

ali, i think it's so cool of you to host the effer dares this week...
your challenge was a great exercise for me-- i am considering making an art journal of it and continuing the process of OBSERVING and recording it. I read your CK article about scrapping life right now and began a detailed photo log of all the "here and now" details of my life and the life of my family. I have always admired your philosophy on this since i started reading your blog.. i just never hauled my camera around regularly to do it. now it's sitting in my tote ready for action. i just want to express how much you influence me and my creativity. thank you for the reminder to notice the details of my life right now. time flies and i want to capture every minute of my story...

Just wanted to add a PS to my earlier comment. I had a very nice email from the owner of the Zone, who let me know that your classes are still available. I just signed up for two! See you there...

First, I am so excited to learn from you at the Zone. I'm signed up for two of the classes. How lucky did I get that my brother in law is getting married in Detroit the weekend that you're teaching at the zone??? Awesome.
Second, I'm working on my dare now, but breaking your rules...I'm observing the dog instead of a person. I would ask you if that was acceptable but I have a feeling your response would be "It's OK!"

Of COURSE you need that iPod! I have one with 60gb. So I can finally get all my music on AND a ton of photos. Which is awesome to keep the boys happy when we are out. As well as Dr Suess audio books for the boys to listen to.
Just make sure to get a good case as they do scratch easily.

I too LOVE LOVE LOVE to read...it's my quiet time! (luckily I have wonderful hubby who LOVES to read as much as I do, so we can often be found curled up on the couch, enjoying our books)
Just a couple more books to add to your list:
Just finished The Family way by Tony Parsons...really great read about the wonders good, bad and crazy) that are families.
Also, I love Barbara Kingsolver...Poison Wood Bible is my all time favorite read!!
Oh, and I read the companion to Simple Abundance and it was great....also, there's men/guy one that is fabulous (it's more short stories, than daily readings like Simple Abundance, but it's awesome!!)
Have fun in Tacoma....I'm in Seattle right now too...like I keep saying....small world!

Ali, I know you've posted it before - but I can't seem to find it - what is the name of your favorite black pen? The one you use all the time? I love how clean the writing looks. Thanks!

my husband is in Seattle this weekend too! Color me all kinds of jealous! He's been calling me telling me about this and that about that area (we are from Indiana so everything there is foreign to us) and I tell him "I know, I've seen that on Ali's pages!" LOL Enjoy your break!
