I "heart" Sydney.
Tags:Hello, Australia.
I think we were all a little giddy upon landing in Sydney last night. There seemed to be lots of singing - at least on Cathy's part (and, in reality, that is not too unusual).
After getting to tour around a bit today - seeing the Opera house and taking a ferry to Manley beach with Donna and Heather - I called Chris and told him that I have to come back - with both him and Simon. This place is awesome. I think having super nice weather helped a bit :). And I think I have always loved cities that exist on and next to big bodies of water. There is something fresh and so very alive about living right on the edge of land.
And for now, I leave you with this:
One last thing: I have been looking around all day for a stuffed-animal kangaroo with a "full body" baby in it's pouch. I have seen lots with just a little head poking out from the pouch but I think that a full body baby would be better with Simon (he will want to take it out and put it back in, etc.) If you are in Aussie and are coming to classes and have a chance to pick one up for me that would be AWESOME. Or at least let me know where I can get one before I leave on Sunday.
Off to enjoy dinner with the group! Classes tomorrow :).

Ali,
I am so jelious that you are in Sydney! I lived there for a year and a half. Reading that you went to Manly Beach made me miss it so much! There are a few things you need to try while you're there. 1. Kababs. You will see little shops with these. They are amazing. I crave them all the time. They are medteranian...kind of like Gyeros, but Aussie style with BBQ Sauce and the whole bit! Love them. Wish I could have them shipped here. 2. Pumpkin Soup. Yum! 3. Tim Tams (I'm sure you've tried those already). 4. Magnum Ice-Cream Bars. 5. Crunchie Candy Bars (if you love chocolate like I do). Actually, any of their chocolate candy bars ("lollies") are good. 6. Unfortunately it isn't Mango season, but they are divine there. All of their produce seems fresher there, though. I love how they have so many vegie options at sandwich shops and everything is so fresh. 7. Aussie Burger. I don't like hamburgers myself, but I hear these are quite the experience with beetroot and egg on them. Okay...I will stop walking down memory lane, but if you guys have a chance, you should try some of these things. Have fun! Ashley

Ali,
My mother-in-law bought our daughter a kangaroo from Kohls, that has a baby kangaroo that comes out of the pouch. It was several months ago, but you could try looking anyway. We have several kangaroos since, afterall, Sydney (our daughter) was named after Sydney,Australia. My husband served a two year mission for our church down in Sydney. Hope you're having fun.

Thanks for loving Australia so much. We all love it too, it would have to be the best place in the world; the best location, the best people, wide open spaces, busy bussling cities, peace, and love. We've got it all!
Love from an Aussie

Hi Ali, I HOPE Chris and Simon can come visit with you one day to sydney (or Melbourne) but make sure you schedule some classes (coz I missed out this time :-( .
Have fun in Sydney... Most of the big cities here in Australia are by the water, so I just thought it a little funny with your comment. I guess that is the beauty of an island country.

I'm visiting my friend Paige (littlegreendot.typepad.com) and she suggested I come to your site to get inspired. What an incredible trip you have had. I can't wait to go to the store and check out your books.
