Ready?
Tags:Tonight Chris and I watched Inside the Twin Towers on the Discovery Channel. During a commercial we were talking about being "prepared" for a disaster. We live in an area of the world that has few natural diasters - an earthquake would be the most likely thing to occur. Are we prepared? Not even close.
That took me to Ready.gov - a site dedicated to helping people prepare for disasters. And come to find out, September is National Preparedness Month.
Tomorrow I will be going to the store to stock up on what we need.
Are you prepared?

I watched that last night too...so many emotions...it was re-living it all over again....those brave people...so many lives lost...made me wonder how another human can hate so much to want to do such a thing.

We saw that discovery show last night as well. It was very good. And sad of course. We are prepared for a hurricane, living in FL, but that is about it! A good thing to think about and act upon.

Blizzard, ice storm, power outage? Yes.
The city broke a water main last winter when it was 10 below, and took the power out in our neighborhood for 6 hours. That we could handle. I've lived through too many winter emergencies to have them phase me.
Tornado, straight line winds? No. I can't even imagine how to prepare when the structure you are taking shelter in is blown to bits. I hope I never find out, either.

yep, I've got a backpack kit and extra clothes and shoes in my car and a garbage can filled with water and supplies in my backyard, away from the house in case it collapses in the next quake. REI and Nitro-Pak.com have great stuff for emergency kits. It's a good feeling to be prepared. :)

I always thought that I was prepared! Hurricane Katrina changed life!
Everything that I knew would never be the same! Everything we worked for, over fifteen years - Gone.
The one thing you must have is Faith, believe is God and he will keep you strong.
