Everyone needs a little Elmo.

Battling winter colds around here yesterday and today. Right now Simon is all bundled up on the couch watching Monsters, Inc.
A couple days ago we discovered a great little Elmo video that is a free download from iTunes called Happy, Healthy Ready for School(part of the Learn Along with Sesame program). For some reason I can't seem to post a direct link - if you use iTunes it is listed under TV Shows/Kids/Learn Along with Sesame. As you can see from the photo above, Simon is really enjoying the video (talks about putting your backpack in a cubby, snack time, letters, numbers, etc - all the things he does in his school).
And thanks to Stephanie who sent me a link to The Foundation For A Better Life site yesterday. Uplifting.
I also wanted to share what my Mom wrote in the comments section yesterday regarding those photos she took on the coast:

Got all choked up reading your mom's words. My kids have a phenomenal relationship with my parents, and I can see that Simon has the same with yours. Just wonderful and sweet and so the best thing.

Hi Ali!
Thanks so much for sharing your journey with Simon. We have a 9 year old with Asperger's Syndrom (diagnosed when he was 6). He has come so far, but sometimes the reality of it all can be so much. It helps to know we are not alone. Today I found out he is hitting and kicking...really nice kids. I feel so lost and along, and helpless. Where do you go? What do you do?

Your mom is so cool! My kids and I just got back from spending the afternoon with my parents and it's just so wonderful to witness all that love. We are truly blessed by parents who want to be with our kids and nurture them just as they nurtured us.

Thanks for sharing the photos. I am here in Virginia and my grandparents lived in CoosBay - I don't get there very often since they died. Beautiful country!

I don't know if you watch Anderson Cooper, but they shared a youtube video from an autsitic woman and I thought of you. The one they aired was My Language http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnylM1hI2jc
However her other videos are also so thought provoking and enlightening you might enjoy them as well.
I find your work very inspiring and your thought process about scrapbooks very modern and what I always wanted scrapbooks to be.

I loved the photos and it's now on my places 'to visit'! Isn't it wonderful when family can share their love with each other? We just returned from 5 days in Florida (Ft. Myers Beach) with our son and his family. Our grandsons have grown so much since we saw and hugged them last June!

When I grow up, I wanna be a grandma *just like* your mom. :) I've already warned my kids. I told them the other day I was going to be one of those *all-up-in-your-bidnis* granmas...my 18 yr old son leaned over and gave me a kiss, and told me he couldn't wait. :)

Hi Ali! Love your mom's photos! I can see where you got your eye for photography. Just wanted to send you a link http://jodigoins.files.wordpress.com/2007/02/joy-one-week.jpg to a page I did from the first challenge (9 squares) in your book, A designer's Eye for Scrapbooking with Patterned Paper. It's the first challenge I've ever done. What fun! Thanks for all of your inspiration- not just with scrapbooking- but with motherhood and life.
