Invite.
If you have purchased the Life Art wall calendar from my Cafe Press shop you know that March's word is invite. It was cool for me to turn the page this morning and be reminded of that word.
The paragraph reads: invite love. invite change. invite differences. invite questions. invite people. invite conversation. invite creativity. invite exploration. invite goodness. invite someone new to the table. invite opportunity. invite music. invite calm. invite emotion. this month, invite yourself to fully experience life.
Sometimes you literally need to invite something into your life for it to make an appearance, for it to become real.
Today I wanted to invite everyone who has not done so yet to donate $10 to Autism Speaks through the badge on the right of your screen. My goal is to get to 300 donations by the end of today. If you have already donated maybe you will consider inviting some of your friends and family or co-workers to do the same.
This whole fund-raising experience has been such an interesting ride for me. It was never something I imagined I would be involved in or that I would be asking people to donate their hard earned funds. But I find myself here. And I feel that it is the right thing to do. Thank you for helping me along on this journey.
What sorts of things can you invite into your life this month? And how are you guys doing with your word for 2007? Is it still right in front of you? If not, maybe it is time for a reminder. Maybe you need to invite your word back into your daily life or invite it to help you move in whatever direction it is you want to go this year.
Often, all you really have to do is ask...
WooHoo! 313 donations. I emailed all my family and friends and shared MY families story. My son was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome just over a year ago. I asked them to check out the 6degrees site and donate. Hopefully your badge will stay up at the top! Each $10 brings us closer to an answer to the puzzle!

Ali...your badge is also on my blog, so I have been watching it soar all day. Yipee!
My word is "dwell" for 2007. I picked it because it's one of the hardest things for me to do being all go go go... but I have been doing ok with it. It's interesting how it has been playing in to things...like dwelling in, and enjoying, the creative process instead of constantly second guessing myself.
I need to invite more peace into my life this month...I've let too many things get a hold of me and steal my joy, and I need to regain focus.

My word is INSPIRE and I do keep it in front of me. Because of your inspiration and challenge, I am keeping an inspiration journal this year, have created several mini albums, hosted an inspiration swap, and am looking in 'unusual/unlikely' places to find inspiration. It's helped me get through a very long, dreary winter and look forward to spring. Thanks.

It's a reminder to me to keep looking ahead, envisioning what I want, making things happen. I've always been a dweller, but I think 2007 is going to change things.

ali, i just wanted to let you know that because of you and your blog, i have have some of the best conversations of my life with people that i may never had the opportunity to have these conversations with, or even met. a couple of my friends have/still work with autistic/aspergers children, and because of you and them, i have been giving serious thought to going back to school so i can work with autistic kids and make the world just a little bit easier for them. you should not feel bad for asking for money, because every time you make a post, you're reminding people that this is something that's affecting more children and families now than it ever has. you are a wonderful mother and a wonderful life artist! :)

I recently made a canvas using my word HAPPY.
Something for my wall, that fills me with fuzzy warmth.
I did put it on the blog, but it was a number of posts ago. However it is in my flickr sidebar.
I based it on the cover of your first book as the design inspired me so much.

Yes, thank you, Ali. It's a good idea to INVITE my word back, because it has seriously gotten away from me in the last few weeks.
My word for the year is s-t-r-e-t-c-h. And I haven't been. I've been doing the same old same old. And what's that definition of insanity? I think it's if you do the same old things but expect different results.
So, if I want new results, I have to try new things. No matter how awkward or unfamiliar initially. Thanks again for the reminder!
