an end + a beginning + my word
Tags:In between working on projects, still battling this ear infection/cold, getting ready for tonight's festivities, drinking coffee, etc, I cleared off the boards above my computer. I do this every so often and today seemed like a pretty good day to invite something new. I am also changing things up by adding some clipboards on the other wall next to my desk for project organization (inspired by Lotta Jansdotter's studio tour).
A fresh start. A new beginning.
I took everything down, put the things worth keeping in an inspiration notebook, and am now ready for new images, new words, new things to motivate + inspire + help me grow in 2008.
For me, in 2008, I am looking forward to getting to the heart of the matter - whatever that is. Clearing away excesses. Focusing on the most important things and not worrying about the rest. Taking a deep breath and beginning one foot in front of the other.
My word for 2008: vitality.
Vitality is the state of being strong and active; energy. Physically. Mentally. Spiritually. Creatively.
Here's to moving forward. To fullness of life. To you and yours.
If you have decided on a word for the year I would love to read what it is - feel free to share in the comments.
Also: Loved this post over at Photojojo on Photo Resolutions. And I think this is the year I will do a 365 project.

I love that I get to pick a new word. My word for last year was create and I feel like I really kept that word in my head all year long. So, this year my word is RESOLVE. I am one of those people that over thinks every decision. So this year I will be firm and decisive. Love your word too.

I love this idea! Strive would be my word for a great 2008 (A Christian who strives to live the way God intended us to; strives for peace and love; strives to see multiple unfinished projects to completion, including a true well rounded health program for our family).
Thanks for the inspiration!

Ali - my word for 2008 is going to be LOVE. Wikipedia quotes a definition, "to love is to act intentionally, in sympathetic response to others (including God), to promote overall well-being." We'll see what 2008 has to teach me about Love.

I was pleasantly surprised to read your post today and inspiration for Word of the Year. I forgot about it.
Upon reflection I realized how much my word became part of my year last year.
My word this year is ACCEPTANCE.
Accepting where I am headed. It's wonderful, scary and at times a lot of work.
But it's mine and I am going to own it.
Thanks Ali,
Sam

My word for 2008 is ENRICH.
I find I get busy in my daily life with work, chores and responsibilities that I don't always find the time to do the things that I want to do. This year I'm taking the time and the word ENRICH will remind me to do just that.
I always focus on my 6 year old daughter and enrich her life. This year I want to ENRICH my life too!
Thanks for the inspiration!

My word is Begin.
It comes from that quote you had a while back. "A year from now you may wish you had started today." I want to start doing what I want to be doing. Begin.

I wasn't even sure if I was going to be able to settle on a single word, but last night, just before midnight, as I looked back and looked ahead, something clicked -- my word is PERSPECTIVE.

one little word - i'm not done with last year's word! it was 'believe' and it encompased all that i felt. this year i am going with COMPLETE! complete a task, complete a project, complete my reorganization goals, complete each day as if it were a gift! I am also getting excess out!!! it began in 2007 with a new life plan of health, eating correctly, etc. in 2008 i hope to complete the first part of that journey and contintue on. and so with that i complete the reading of my emails (i was 3 days off the computer) and need to complete my day by going to bed!
thanks, ali, for all the inspiration and motivation you feed us! may 2008 be filled with only good health, prosperity, and only the best of memories!!

I decided on my word after reading your entry about it. Its going to be "ACTIVE." Both in terms of getting fitter/exercising and just always doing something in general. Rather than my usual fall asleep in front of the TV, even if its just writing a letter or scrapping while watching TV, or getting out for a walk when its dry or doing housework. It will be an improvement in so many different ways.. Heres hoping I can make it stick :) Happy New Year!

This is number "n" post, after so many I do not hope to be too original, but I still participate because I greatly appreciate every of your entries, I believe in your projects and I had to let you know. My word for the year is FLOW. It has to do with patience, with acceptation, with faith, with tolerance. I want to adopt an attitude that would allow the natural energy of people and things to be in harmony, because everything settles down the way it is intended to be, or so it seems to me. The very best for all!

Ali- you are so inspirational. I think I'm taking on calm as my word for the year-I need to be more restful, reflective and patient, and I think calm embodies these elements, I look forward to what you have for "us" in 2008. Happy New Year.

I really enjoy reading your blog. My word for this year is NOW. I think this is what should be important for me. I need to stop thinking of "when I have time, or when I...." and think about NOW! Because NOW never comes back!

I have been having trouble deciding, but am sure that SIMPLIFY is my best choice for 2008. My resolution is to organize my life and cut-out things that make me stressed. If I can reduce my stress even a little maybe my blood pressure would lower and I could quit taking medication (I'm 31 and have had hypertension for two years)
Thanks for inspiring all of us!!!!!

Happy New Year!
My word this year is LIVE. A couple weeks ago, I saw a car commercial with the tagline: "Live like you mean it" and it really stuck with me. That's my plan - to live like I mean it. To me that means taking better care of my health, enjoying more of the everyday instead of just trying to muddle through, and being more selective about how I choose to spend both time and money.
Also, good luck with the 365 project. (Or, 366 as it's a leap year!) I joined a 365+1 Flickr group and even though it's only been two days, I'm obsessed! :)
