Possibilities.
Tags:Once again I am enchanted by the possibilities of stories to be told.
I got a bunch of photos in the mail yesterday that I had uploaded for printing including a great group from our spring break vacation. I often print from home using my HP Photosmart D7360 and am completely happy with the results, but I find that nothing beats opening up that package from the printer.
I went with white borders for our spring break pictures - something different (and definitely inspired by Karen). Getting excited about putting that album together.

And I have to tell you about Simon - he has become a fish. After really getting the hang of the whole swimming thing while on vacation (and basically spending all his time there in the pool) he is pretty amazing in the water now. We went to family swim at a local pool last night and he is just all over the place: under the water, laying on his back, floating on his front, jumping in and getting himself back to the wall even in deeper water, etc. The key for him was giving him a mask. He is definitely building strength and confidence in the water. I am a very happy mama (and Chris is a very happy papa) to be witnessing and encouraging all this (the coaxing out of the water...or pulling out of the water without meltdowns is a whole other story).

Just a comment on your 'fish' - I also have a fish. My daughter who is 6 does not swim but my autistic son can swim like a fish and he's 4. He loves anything to do with water - it calms the senses and obliterates a lot of sensory noise.
Have a happy and swimful summer!

OK, don't want to be the obnoxious blog commenter but I had to comment again today (getting caught up on reading). I am so happy for Simon! I owned a Montessori pre-school for eleven years before selling it five years ago. With the 85 children a day for eleven years I had the privilege of working with many children with autism (gotta be honest, they're my favorite...I don't have a favorite age group, I have a favorite group) and in the summers we would go swimming. I loved swimming as a child and just couldn't believe that it would be anything but wonderful for the children in my care. The calm in the water was so fantastic for them and the calm they received out of the water with the confidence they'd found was priceless. I AM SO HAPPY for him! Congratulations Mama!

Yay Ali and Chris and especially yay for Simon!....although i must admit i had a little chuckle at your additional comment (trying to coax him out of the water without meltdowns! -our problem too!)
I got to our son's preschool today and the lovely director told me he had an 'under-the-chairs-and-tables-kind-of-day'. Some days are good and some have lots of hard times in them too. So when they achieve something like a new love of swimming, or a day at preschool where there's not a huge meltdown over not being allowed to feed the fish, it really is something to celebrate, huh!
There's always hope isn't there - and tonight I needed that reminder :)
Thanks Ali :)
