Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

Our family loves to go swimming every Friday. It is fun for us to be doing the same thing and only focusing on each other. There is not a phone ringing, television or the dog barking to distract us from each other.

Camping together in our trailer. No distractions. A close second would be time in our hot tub.

Our favorite family activity is "Family Movie Night". Most Fridays we rent a movie, order pizza, and bake brownies. We love it!
Our two girls, ages 9 and 6, don't let us forget it!

What a treasure of great ideas in all of these comments. Lately one of our favs is to head to Heritage Park, a local park with lots of green space, old trains, a boat ride and a few small rides. Great for our family of 3 children 4 & under. Great for mom and dad b/c there is so much space and breathtaking scenery!

With just a newborn baby, we loved to lay in bed with Emerson in between us and talk about all the cute new things that he did that day.

My favorite thing right now is watching my two year old discover new things or achieve new accomplishments. It such a gift to be able to see things again thru a 2 year old's eyes. It's amazing how such small things like this can bring such big pleasures!

We love being, literally, close to each other. Whether smooshed on the couch watching a movie that makes us all laugh, eating in a restaurant booth, or crammed in our small computer room while Dad is on the computer and the rest of us working on separate little projects.

Bowling! We actually have gone bowling on Thanskgiving nights the last few years and its so much fun. I think everyone can just let loose when they're doing that.
Thanks for the book suggestion though-- my friend just had a baby and its a perfect gift!

Our most favorite thing to do is on a weekend where we don't have a million things to do... the kids cuddle up in our bed and we hang out and watch cartoons until we feel we are hungry and then we mosey into the kitchen. I love that time because we laugh and talk and giggle and play together.

Eat dinner together every night; so many families today that I talk to are so busy they don't; but we do and it is the best time...no creativity here just great family time to share our days, read a book (once I'm done eating, since I do the reading - like the Chronicles of Narnia), and laugh - we do alot of that.

It is a toss up right now. My little girls are addicted to making chalk drawings on our driveway, and we have spent many evenings outside drawing and playing with their bikes. Sounds so ordinary, but I just love it. I also love when we go to a local park to feed the ducks. They (the girls) are so cute and get so excited as the ducks eat up the bread that we brought for them.

We always make that extra effort to eat dinner together. Conencting over food has been passed down through our family for generations.

I forgot all about that book! I had heard it was coming out and then forgot about it. I'd love to have it as I am always looking for new ideas. I really need some! My favorite thing for us to do is to just hang out at the lake together - no TV, telephone or other outside influences. So peaceful and perfect.

Meal time, reading time and our walks around the block are our favorite family times. Although, Sunday mornings with the three of us snuggling in bed is pretty darn cool, too! :D

One of our favorite things we do as a family . . . every Friday night is either movie night or game night. We pop popcorn and just enjoy each other's company. Simple, but something the kids (and us) all look forward to. This book looks great!
