Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

My favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together would be to sing and play music, but making dinner together happens more often and it is enjoyed by age 2 to 40!

My favourite thing to do as a family is have dinner together. My one son (3 1/2) loves to tell us stories and I always ask him a ton of questions to lengthen the story.

Like the family above us we listen to music at dinner and usually end up dancing in the kitchen while we clean up. We also like to spend time together reading, talking, and cuddling on the couch or on our bed in the evenings- it's where some of life's "big" questions are discussed.

My favorite thing to do as a family is cook!!! I have two small children (5 and 6) and they love to get in the kitchen and make stuff. Hubby and I are always thinking of things for us to make. In fact, I need to make a recipe book that includes all of the things we have made. I definitely have the pics to prove it!!!!

We like to go for a walk when my husband comes home from work. We load the baby up in the stroller, get the dog's leash and walk through the neighbourhood. It is only about 40 minutes, but it is just us.

Easy answer. Travel. Sometimes far away, usually closer to home. We love to pack our bags and see new sights.
A different environment soothes all our souls and refreshes our spirits. And, maybe for a few minutes, my boys aren't trying to kill each other as they appreciate other vistas.

We enjoy eating as many meals together as a family. It gives us a chance to talk while nourishing our bodies. My family used to do this when I was growing up & I loved it so I made sure to continue it with my family.

What keeps our family close is having dinner together almost every night. And to make it even more special we do "highs and lows." We go around the table and everyone shares their "highs" aka good things that happened that day and "lows" aka not so good things that happened that day. It keeps us close and talking with our three kids. Kathy

It seems like we have the best times we have together are just running around in our backyard. Nothing big or planned, just giggling and playing.

What a great giveaway Ali! I find that most often, it is the simple things I do with my 3 year-old that make him most happy. We like to bake together and play with some play dough.

Our favorite family time is game night! We try to do this weekly. But on occasion we have a big movie night, which includes our king size bed, a movie and a big bowl of popcorn! Big FAMILY bed time! We love it!!

My mother passed away 14 weeks ago (two weeks before the birth of her first grandchild). We used to go to my parents home whenever we had a free chance just to habg out, sit on the couch, talk, play games, look at magazines, look over scrapbooks, eat, and tell each other what we were learning from God's word. Now that my mother is gone, my father and sister have moved in with my husband, daughter, and me. Dinner together at 7:00 has become very important, followed by watching the evening news, and having Dad rock the baaby to sleep. My sister and I then go into her room for some exercise. When the evening is over, my husband and I go to our room, turn on the t.v. and fall asleep to HGTV.

Ali,
My husband and I just became a true "family" 7 weeks ago, when I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. It is a huge priority of mine to instill creativity into our daily lives and would love this book to get me off to a good start! Currently, we are in survival mode--as I'm sure you can remember--but once the dust settles and we get into a routine (please tell me that someday there will be a routine!) I hope to set up some wonderful family traditions that center around creativity, crafts and just being together as a family. Thanks for your wonderful, inspiring blog!

just wanted to say thank you for being you.
(i stalk but rarely comment)
i would say we eat dinner together often. that was important thing for me, coming from a family of parent's w/ nightshifts.
other than that, we swim. tubing. being out in nature. no distractions. it's about the most family fun thing we do. :)
(keeping my fingers crossed)

My favorite thing to do is to go out on the greenbelt behind our house with my husband, my son, and our two dogs and create whatever game seems appropriate at the time. Games include "Mom and dogs cheer on Son and Dad baseball practice," "Spy on Dad while hiding behind trees thinner than we are," or more often than not, "Run as fast as you can... THAT WAY!!!" We may need some help in the creativity department, but at least we're all working out together!
