Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

The one favorite thing I do with my husband and two wonderful kids is waking up in the morning and cuddling, saying I love you to one another in bed. Showing the affection of our love to our little precious and seeing their beaming smiley faces really make the day so much brighter!

Favorite thing to do as a family...we love eating dinner as a family. That's the time of day, when everything is winding down, and we can sit at the table and catch up on our lives.

With two working parents our time together is short and precious. But every night after bath we all gather on the couch for storytime. My husband and I take turns reading books and our daughter runs off to choose a new one of her favorites as soon as we finish.
She is such a creative soul, I am always worrying that I don't encourage or nourish it enough. Would love this book for all of the great ideas I'm sure would apply to me.

Love being together and listening to my children. Whether we are eating dinner, playing a game, or reading a book. It is just fun to listen to them...really listen.

Our favorite thing to do together as a family that brings us closer together?
We simply love each other. Always. Forever.
Through thick and thin, through good times and bad times, through happy days and not-so-happy days.

So we have a wildlife refuge just 5 minutes from our house(Finley Wildlife Preserve-south of Corvallis) and we love to go there and walk the trails. Gives us time to talk and laugh and just enjoy being with us in the peace and beauty of nature.

Although we don't do it often enough, being outside. With mom (me) out of the house and not able to see the millions of things left undone, it's much easier to relax and just enjoy each other. If mom's happy, everyone's happy. :P

My favorite thing to do with my kids is connect at night just before bed. Each child gets a few min. of private, quiet time with my hubby and I. We can check in, chat, tell secrets, and just enjoy each other. I LOVE this!! & I think they look forward to it too.

Hi Ali
My favorite thing to do with my family is have "family night". It can really be anything that one of us would like to do. It is just the dedicated time to not allow phone calls, computer time, friends over, etc. Just us, doing something together, that allows us to be a complete family.
Thanks for opening up your family via your creations on your blog. You are a wonderful inspiration.

Ali, you and Amanda are honestly my most favourite blogs and the ones I go to on a regular basis. Our favourite family times includes breakfast and supper around the table, time on a blanket in the garden, and going to our favourite picnic spot. There is a little stream and our toddler and baby just love getting their feet wet.

My sister (27) and I (30) are about to become sibilings to 5 more. That's right, 5 (3 girls, 2 boys).... all under the age of 18. My mom is marrying a man with full custody of five children ages 18, 16, 13, 12 and 10.
I fully embrace the union, but it's definitely been an adjustment. I'm trying to think of ways to bring the family together.
So far, we all enjoy the giant trampoline in the backyard and I have a short video project for all of us planned for presentation at the wedding.

My favorite thing is bedtime. The day is almost done. The girls are in their pj's, tucked in their beds. We don't have to rush to be anywhere we can just enjoy our time together. We read at least one book and talk about what ever they choose. We cuddle with them and some nights even fall asleep in their beds.

My favorite thing? Eat dinner together, AT the dinner table or in the back yard. TALKING....From Dr. Phil's family book...we take turns answering the questions...1. What was great about your day today? What didn't go so well today? What could we do differently about it?
LUV that...and so do the kids.

Very recently it has been sewing. Neither my sister nor I learned it growing up and now that mom is visting for a few months we spend afternoons cutting patterns, pinning fabric and as my 3 yr old nephew says "passing the fabric thru the sewing machine". It has made for many hours of fantasy play, talk and laugther.
