Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

We love doing so many things together, but I think that our morning snuggles, reading together or just playing would rank up there toward the top! Having a close family is something that my husband and I both value and nurture.

Our favorite thing to do is after bath time we hang out in the girls'(age 3&4.5) room listening to dance music. We'd tell jokes, pretend their beds are stage and we'd perform to doing silly dance to their favorite hip-hop.

We have 4 kids ages 2, 5, 8 and 10 - 2 boys and 2 girls. Our favorite thing is to travel together and see new places. Or, in the summer when we are at our cottage, we go on a pontoon boat ride around the lake every night. sometimes the boys fish, sometimes we all jump into the lake - lots of fun :)

I've been pondering this now. What do we (DH, me and 20 mo DD) enjoy altogether. Just life, I think. Time just being together. Preferably pottering, doing something with little purpose except in being together. You've gotta right?
Oh, and...
PICK ME, PICK ME, PICK ME!!!!
(frantic attention seeking now over. ahem...)

Sunday night is "Pizza/Family Movie Night." Our daughters pick out a movie and we order our favorite pizza. All the lights are turned out, cell phones are turned off, the a/c is turned down so it's nice and chilly, and we all sit together on the couch covered with cozy blankets.
Thank you for the opportunity to win this book! Take care!

we enjoy family walks through the neighborhood--there is usually a pit stop by the pond to watch the ducks.

We are a young family...my oldest (Drew) is 3 and my baby (Cameron) is just one year. Our best family moments tend to happen spontaneously, but there are a few that we can count on happening. I love it when the boys jump in bed with my husband and I on Saturday or Sunday mornings and we cuddle, steal kisses and wrestle til' we are all crying because we've been laughing so hard.

What a fabulous book! Our favorite *current* activity to do together is a summer night at the drive-in. We get to be outdoors, see two great movies, have lots of yummy food, and cuddle up together. I look forward to it all year. :)

Thanks for the opportunity - the book looks fabulous! Our favorite thing to do as a family is to sit down to dinner each night together. We each take a moment to relate our "highs" and "lows" from the day. It is a great opportunity to find out what is going on in my kids lives and offer advice or encouragement.

I love scrapbooking with my girls (6,7). I made them their own scrapbook table in my scrapbook room. I enjoy doing my thing while they do their thing.

One of our favorite things to do together as a family is going on my FIL's boat! We love it and my DS, who is 3, thinks Pappy's boat is the best. We pack our lunch and snacks and some toys. Then we all head out for a day on the river or the ocean. It's especially fun when we can go to the beach and build sandcastles and bury each other in the sand. Thanks for your very inspiritional blog.

Taking paper, paint and brushes outside, finding a good spot, putting the blanket down and do some painting of what we see around us. Learning new technics from each other. Getting closer doing something we all love. It's great fun.

Hi Ali,
Lots of great suggestions on here. I live in New England, so a lot of our activities are dependent on the weather. Some days, we clear the living room floor and bring our sleeping bags downstairs. We either snuggle and read books or have a "sleeping bag picnic." Nicer weather calls for a massive sea glass hunt at the shore. We walk together, talk, and have friendly competitions: who can find the most sea glass, who can find the most blue, who has the biggest piece? We have affectionately dubbed my oldest "Eagle Eyes Pipe" because she finds things we often overlook.
Have a great day!
Jenn

my favorite thing to do as a family that brings us closer together is to take nightly walks around the block. my son, aidan, who's 2 1/2, rides in his wagon, pulled by my husband, and I lasso the two dogs on their leashes. It's a great time for us to catch up and focus on talking rather than the distractions that the house can offer (the internet, TV, toys, cleaning, etc.)

Hey Ali! I'm dying to get that book - it's in my Amazon.com wish list and I'm thinking I may just have to get myself a little present. :) Anyway, one of my favorite "family" things (and one I reeeallly need to scrapbook about) is our family breakfast on Saturday mornings. We try really hard to eat dinner together during the week, but my hubby works late often and we just can't wait until 8pm. So Saturdays are our "lazy days" where we sleep in and just enjoy playing with the kids, etc. And, we always make either a) pancakes or b) waffles. My hubby's family did that when he was a kid and now he makes them for us most every weekend. A nice treat for me to not have to cook and a nice treat for everyone to just spend time together. :) (And, he puts chocolate chips in mine because he knows I love them that way). :)

One of our favorite things to do together is hiking. Every Saturday morning we go to our favorite park for a hike. Our dog can along with us. Great family time.

For us family time is spent in a variety of different ways but our favorite is playing tag with my daughter. We all take turns chasing each other around the house. When it's my daughter's turn, my husband and I make sure to run slow so that she can catch us. It's a get way to get the whole family laughing and having a good time.
