Three Things : Weekdays + Creative Family Giveaway
Tags:One of the things that remains constant for all of us are the days
of the week. Each day of our lives present new stories to tell. When I
am on the lookout for supplies I gravitate towards anything that
includes the days of the week or some sort of calendar/date component. These are great supports for my everyday style of picture-taking and scrapbooking.
1. 7gypsies A Year In The Life clear stamps : Completely universal. I especially like stamps such as these that can be used on so many different projects.
2. Days of the week stickers from Papier Valise : Click on the paper section of her shop to access these stickers. Watch out, this shop has tons of great stuff. I also love the French days of the week stickers.
3. Teresa Collins Journal It collection : A bunch of the pieces in this collection include a calendar or day of the week accents (scroll down the link to see more of the collection).
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Today's giveaway is a book I have been recently treasuring: The Creative Life: How To Encourage Imagination and Nurture Family Connections by Amanda Soule.
This is one of those books I wish had been available before Simon was born. So many ideas for cultivating creativity and appreciating nature and living a very full and joyfully simple existence. A great gift for a new Mom or someone with small children in the house.
You can read more about Amanda on her wonderful blog: SouleMama.
Leave a comment below and let me know what is your favorite thing to do as a family that brings you closer together. A random winner will be chosen on Wednesday night around 5pm Pacific.
[ Look for today's layout to be posted at 10am pacific. ]

My favorite thing is to eat meals together. Nothing keeps their attention more than food and you can talk about their day at the same time.

we love to watch our 5 year old make crazy faces and sing songs to make his baby sister laugh. In the end, our cheeks hurt from all the smiling... life is sweet. we also love when the same five year old asks us to go around the circle and say something we love about each member in our family.

Thanks for offering the book giveaway. I am always looking for new ways to be creative with the family. I have always been inspired by you & your work. As a mother of 2 girls & one on the way, we are always looking for new ways to share time together. Since my husband works in the movie industry as truck driver, we don't share much time together when he is away but on random times we get the opportunity to ride along with him and be on the actually movie/tv sets. Its so exciting to be able to travel to distant places and meet new ppl. The girls love sharing the days and nites all together even when he is working. Of course I love taking pictures of every moment we share together.

We simply love being together, we never take it for granted, and we take every opportunity to do it. We'd rather be home, together, than anyplace else so that is what we choose.

Oooh...need this book!!! :-) In our family, we do "highs and lows" at bedtime together. We lay down in our kids' room and they tell us their high of the day and their low of the day. It's a nice way to wrap up the day, and very heartwarming when they say things like "My high was when you got home, Daddy." We love it!

My favorite thing to do with my family nowadays is to go out for a walk in our neighborhood. My 10yr old goes riding her bike and stops to talk about stuff she sees around, and my 2yr old checks out the plants, trees, cats. We stop at the bakery for freshly baked bread, and go home with our moods lifted. That book looks so much fun!

We like to go on walks around the neighborhood after school and usually end up at the park and play for a bit...then every evening we curl up in bed and I read to my 3 year old. There's nothing like a good evening snuggle with a few books to get us ready for a peaceful sleep!

I'm a single mom of a three-year-old boy still going through a divorce. While I don't always have the energy to do the creative things I'd like to do with my son, I always make time to read to him. I love seeing things again for the first time through his eyes. The quiet time we spend together is as precious as the time we're laughing or crying together. Most of all, I never tell him that anything he says is absurd or outrageous. I want to foster his imagination, not stifle it.

Since we are a new family, Cason is only 2 mos old, many outings are too 'big'. Church has proved to be the best place for us.. The saying 'It takes a village to raise a child' proves itself each time we walk in the door. Not only is everyone concerned about the baby but they make sure my husband and I are doing well and adjusting to our new life. What a true blessing!!

My family loves to eat so pretty much every occassion calls for a barbeque at my parents' backyard. My mom's brother & sister live in the same neighborhood with their families plus some very close family friends are nearby so there's always a birthday/anniversary/event to be celebrated. It's a great time to catch up while filling up on yummy food!

Our family (me, DH Dave and DD Lexie) loves being outdoors - it really doesn't matter what we're doing - playing on the playset, kicking around the soccer ball, going for a walk, even cleaning the garage! As long as all 3 of us are together, we always have fun!

I love your blog and I would love the chance to win Amanda's book. We love playing "I spy with my little eye" with our son and we love reading books together. We also love doing crafts together. He especially likes to decorate t-shirts lately. It's a great way to spend quality time together. Thanks!

Our family favorites have changed as the kids grew. Although our family has changed significantly in the last several years (our 15 year old daughter was killed in a car accident, youngest daughter is headed to DC for an internship this summer, son diagnosed with ADD and successfully treated) one thing has never changed: we tell each other "I love you" many times a day. Even when my daughter is away at college she will e-mail or call just to tell us she loves us. Even when our son is having a meltdown and I'm at the very end of my rope I'll stop and tell him I love him. It's the last thing we say to each other whenever we part and the last thing we say at bedtime. You can never say it enough!

every night
at supper
we do a roundtable, take your turn
at telling
the worst part of your day
and the best...
it is a great way to get a
sneak peek into what is going on in
their lives and their heads...
at eight and almost-13
that is sometimes hard to do...

my husband and i have always tried to teach our kids to be different and explore unusual things - the best gift we can give them is the confidence to explore the greater world around them...we enjoy sailing together - it's something different that many people do not get to experience, yet such an amazing way to be at the hands of mother nature and the winds she provides!
