[ supplies: cardstock: Bazzill; letter stickers: Making Memories Tiny Alphabet; scallop circle punches: Marvy Uchida Giga + Mega; "notes from today" stamp: Catslife Press; pen: American Crafts; brown patterned paper: from inside a tea box; corner rounder: Marvy Uchida ]

Keeping it simple again with neutral colored cardstock. Brown patterned paper was the inside pattern of a cardboard tea box (found that one in my scrap-mail box I showed yesterday). The overall design is one of my favorite ways to bring a page together: cropped photos with journaling around the outer edge.

The process begins with a bunch of photos from yesterday afternoon (once again, way more photos than needed but so nice for choosing which ones to tell the story):

I chose one to enlarge and a few others to crop and gather together in Photoshop. To create the gathering I created a new canvas (300 dpi) and cropped my photos so that each one was 3 inches tall. After cropping each one I dragged and dropped them onto the canvas so that I could print them out all at once.

While I was gathering photos I considered making this layout two pages. One page would hold the enlarged photo and the other page would include the cropped photos. After printing and moving things around on the page I decided to go with a single page (as you see above) and journal around the outer edge.

For the scalloped accent on the top photo I used two different sizes of scalloped punches. The larger one was used to punch the shape directly from the photo and the smaller punch was used to create the patterned circle. The smaller scalloped circle is adhered with foam dots to give it some dimension.

And the story? Simon came home from school yesterday very grumpy. He had a tough day following directions (among other things) and really just needed some chill-out time. He had a snack, we chatted about his day, and then it was time to go outside. It has been super hot here so running through the sprinkler sounded like a pretty good option for expending some of his energy. And obviously, he's really into the mask.

Also, check out a phone interview I did with Circa Arte/ZNEart last night. You can listen to it here.
