Three Things : Lines (and a Designer Digitals giveaway)
Tags:One of the easiest ways I have found to add journaling to my projects is to incorporate products that include lines just waiting for words. They invite words.
[ Or I can always just pull out the pen + ruler and get those lines on there myself. Whatever is least complicated at the moment tends to be my choice. ]
Here's a look at some of my favorite products that showcase the simple beauty of lines:
Karen Russell Narratives Scalloped Lined Paper : Probably one of my all time favorite lined papers (next to the old Making Memories Ledger paper). I love that bit of scallop around the edge.
Technique Tuesday's Storyteller's Ledger Stamp : A great stamp for jotting down information and telling bits of a story on layouts, cards, minibooks, etc. Completely versatile.
Luxe Simple Lined Double-Sided Paper : Quickly becoming a favorite, this lined paper is a part of Luxe's Simply Luxe line (essentially lines + dots). Check out the grid, ledger, and pinstriped verisions as well.
Mug Memo Notebook from Fishs Eddy : This mug inspired the line theme this week. Such a happy mug. And watch out for lots of other cool things in this shop. Check out the other memo/line-inspired mugs and trays here.
In addition to Three Things today I am exicted to offer a giveaway of my first collection of layered templates and brushes from Designer Digitals. Leave a comment below with your favorite tip for getting words down on your projects (and not leaving them blank for a "someday-down-the-road-I-will-add-the-journaling"). A winner will be drawn at 5pm Pacific on Wednesday.
[ Three Things is a weekly product series : check out the archives here. ]

Cool mug!! I like to use some stamps similiar to the one you showed to add some notes to a LO. Or just tuck something behind the picture.

I like to journal on labels and hide it away behind something. Lately I have become a bit more daring, and writing on lined paper, or open areas right on the lay out. Love lined paper and these stamps!!

I always try to have some type of lined paper with me when I go to a crop so I can use it (I don't write very straight!!). At home, I will sometimes type my journeling on the computer and print it out on all different types of paper.

I always journal as I do my scrapbooking. I know I will never get back to it later. I use a variety of journaling stamps and utilize all the wonderful embellishments on the market. Sometimes I just take cardstock that fits the theme of the page and just write my thoughts. Majority of my journaling is handwritten...it is the quickest to "get it done" :)

I keep a journal and write a blog. Then I use what I've written in one of those two places to add to a layout--especially if/when I've used pictures in my blog posts.

I really like to use cardstock stickers that are journaling blocks. That and I just got the journaling stamps by October Afternoon that are great.

Hey there!
Glad you are back, safe and sound from Houston. I try to really be in the moment of events, not try to snap each shot and take time at the end of a day to grab whatever is handy and write down events, noticings and appreciations.
LOVE, love, LOVE the digital products!!

Hi Ali
using my computer is still my favorite way to add words. I either print them right on to my 12x12 layout with my wide format, or print onto a second piece of paper and attach it to the layout. I often write my journalling before i start the page so I know how much room I need.
have a great day

If I am having trouble finding the right words, I open a notepad file and just start typing.
whatever comes to mind. once I get over the blank pages syndrome I can normally focus on getting something meaningful down.
and never, ever delete journaling because it is not "good" enough if you are not going to replace it right away!
in a couple of days, you might like it despite yourself.
we are our own worst critics

I love adding large tags(~4"x3") to my pages. They are big enough to write the story and can be tucked behind a picture if there's not much room left.

The journaling is my favorite part...when I am finished that is. Playing is the fun part of the on going process, but reading and remembering the story afterwards, and days, weeks, years later...that's the BEST!

My favorite way to incorporate journaling...make it a focal point of the page. Leave ROOM to write... Lately I have just been writing on part of the actual cardstock used as the base of the layout. My own handwriting, so it's done while I'm still thinking about it.

One morning I woke up with the same thought running through my head, which I wrote down immediately, before it would be forgotten.. this,in turn, resulted in one of my most personally satisfying scrapped pages and since then I've tried to journal first and work around the words! Maria

I can't wait to see all of your new stuff!! Thanks for a chance to win it. I tend to just write right on my pages and journal as I go. I don't have a computer in my craft space, so if I want to type out the journaling, it always has to wait until I can go do that and may not get done for a while. I just started reading Life Artist yesterday and am already inspired. I'm off to create some art!!

I usually make up kits to scrapbook - pull the pictures and papers, embellishments I think I might use and jot down journaling ideas at that point. Then when I am ready to scrapbook I have everything ready. I really love the pretty stamps with lines. And sometimes I do computer journaling.

I am beginning to stash snippets of memory about moments in my childhood and my kids' so I can have something ready for journaling when I get to those moments/stories.
