Hello Baby Edwards...
Our lives are changing in a very big, very wonderful way early next year.
We've known for just about six weeks now and have been doing a ton of celebrating with family (I am just over 12 weeks along).
The idea of a new little person in our lives is sinking in day by day. I am experiencing a crazy mixture of excitement, all-day nausea, grumpiness + mood swings, too-small clothes (which leads to more grumpiness), and that pure amazing this is really happening joy.
I am so hoping that I am coming out of the early pregnancy/first trimester fog (at least I really, really hope so) and am focusing on living fully and in the moment and not taking a minute of this for granted (easier said than done some of these days when all I want to do is sleep all day). As you might imagine I have a big list of things I want to do before this new person joins us and I have been crossing them off the list very slowly one by one.
Simon is pretty darn excited. He came with me to my doctor's appointment yesterday and really liked hearing the heartbeat (even though he was disappointed that he didn't get to see more pictures).
We are all pretty darn excited.
Life is a tremendously amazing thing indeed.

I remember reading your blog way before Simon's diagnosis that you guys had decided that one was enough (for that time and space) and I remember running a large gamut of emotions, especially considering that I don't know you personally; But here is the truth: we are not much alike creatively...you are much more brazen and confident than I, but we are much alike as mothers, and our boy-o's, though they are 15 years apart in age, are very similar in disposition.Simon's antics have carried me back many times. You are on the cusp of soemthing amazing with Simon, if the similarities play out. Be aware of the ways in which he prepares for big brotherhood. He will amaze you.Having more children is not harder; it is different, but it is amazing. Good luck to you as you begin this journey!

I couldn't help but rejoice when I saw the ultrasound picture! My husband heard me squealing and simply nodded when I gushed, "Ali's having a baby!" (He knows exactly who I'm talking about cause I tell him regularly what you and Simon and Chris are up to. He knows you are my absolute favorite artist.) I am so thrilled for you. I don't know what it's like being pregnant (we adopted Grace from Taiwan last year) but I can imagine how awesome it must be to know that God is creating a new little one inside you. We all care about you and your family so much. Thanks for letting us be an extended part of your family...

Yehaaah!! What fantastic news to start the week with!Congratulations to you, Chris and Simon. So excited to imagine the journey ahead for you three as you welcome wee baby Edwards into your wonderful family! Am also quietly rubbing my hands together in anticipation of how your genius creativity celebrates this special new life Ali! (Once you have the energy - second trimester is the usually the go.) I have a boy and a girl, but very close together, so can only imagine how very very excited Simon must be. Much 'aroha' (love) from New Zealand, Louise
