I'm looking forward to my extended family's annual cookie party. We all gather on the second Saturday of December and bake cookies until we drop. Then we divide them up between the families to take home and enjoy. This is the one time during the year I am guaranteed to see everyone at one time and it's a blast!

Spending time with family! My whole family will be together at mom's for Thanksgiving - that hasn't happened for a couple of years. Then my husband's Christmas break from school so we'll be able to just relax and spend some time together. I'm also making my Christmas cards this year (for the first time) and I'm excited about that.

I'm looking forward to spending quality time with my family in Georgia. We'll be there for Christmas Day this year and I think it's going to be great fun for our three boys. They love spending time with their grandparents and cousins there. :)

Gosh Ali, you always have the coolest giveaways! This year our 10th wedding anniversary is ON Thanksgiving. To celebrate, we're taking our four children (along with my grandparents, aunt+uncle) on a week long Caribbean cruise. What a great way to start the holidays! The six of us on vacation TOGETHER!!!!!!! (my dh travels a lot, so it's super cool that we'll all be together.) Mostly that's all I want this year. FAMILY TIME! (and a new sewing machine, but I digress....)

The holiday season for me really revolves around Christmas. Christmas means family, plain and simple. We gather for our annual family Christmas party, that spans 12 different families now, who are spread out across the country. I don't have a single holiday memory that doesn't involve this party. We always set a time, and it will undoubtedly start three to four hours after that time. There's always the odd cousin that brings some exotic dish that our traditional, older relatives won't even look at. We argue over the rules of our White Elephant exchange each year, as if it hasn't been the same for that least 23 years. I get to take a breather from work, school, and any other obligations, and enjoy the familiarity of this cooky bunch. It's not about the gifts, but the laughter and warmth. I'm amazed to come back each year and see how much our group has changed, and revel in the ways that it never will. When you see people so little, nothing about your meetings is ever tedious, but rather, you get a receptive ear and a hint of awe, because we're all so different that each new thing is wonderful. If nothing else, Christmas gives me the opportunity to appreciate my many blessings. I don't measure them in the loot I walk away with, but the pictures and memories that shore me up for the whole year I have to do without.

I am most looking forward to THIS holiday season because this is very likely to be the last holiday I spend with my dad. He is currently batteling cancer, and the outlook is not good.
This holiday season will be much more about time spent with family, living in the moment, making memories with my loved ones and remembering what the season is truly about.

All 3 of my children will be joining us for Christmas this year...so I am going to spend the time enjoying having them all together. I want to take a lot of pictures, since in the last few years it has been rare to have them all with us.

I am looking forward to creating gifts with my kids and having them home from school (with no homework to be done.) I can't wait for my hubby to have a few consecutive days off so we can all spend time together. I love the decorations (and the lights) and the smells from the yummy food!!! And, of course, the holiday music!!

I love sipping hot chocolate while walking the neighborhood looking as all the lights. I could go on and on, I just love everything about this time of year!
