December Daily : Days 23, 24, and 25
Tags:So happy to be finishing this up. It's a project that I definitely look forward to but man it is tough to finish up during those last few days leading up to Christmas.
In looking through the entire album for this year, one of the things I really love is that it is simple and the emphasis is really on the photos and the words. The more time goes by the more I really find that to be what I want to see most. Sometimes it is so easy to get swept up in all the extras (because there are so many cool things to use) but what I really care about are the pictures and the story.
I know that I talk about the simplicity of words and photos often, partly it is a reminder to myself and partly because I just get so excited about it.
Day Twenty-Three:
And a close-up:
Photos printed on photo paper with a bit of text in the middle.
And the backside:
7gypsies Flocked Paper with a little bit of baker's twine.
And the before:
[ Heidi Swapp Overlay Dots; Tree: Art Warehouse Noel Epoxy Sticker; American Crafts White Moma Remarks Letter Sticker Book ]
Day Twenty-Four:
I love this photo of Chris, his Dad, and Simon - probably my favorite of the season. Patterned paper is Love, Elsie from 2007. Foam stickers from American Crafts.
And the before:
[ Making Memories Artisan Solid Die Cut Paper; Scenic Route Berkley Red Letter Stickers ]
Day Twenty-Five:
A simple photo collage. I think I will also do a layout with photos from Christmas Day.
And the before:
[ Art Warehouse Dear Santa Hollyberry Paper; Scenic Route Berkley Red Letter Stickers ]
All December Daily pages for 2008 can be found here. Thanks to everyone who participated in the Flickr group and who played along on your own. I so hope you enjoyed the experience.

Beautiful!! My word for 2009 is going to be "Joy" - I am inviting joy into my life and opening my eyes to notice it. Also, my eighteen year old daughter is going to play - her word will be "Balance".

I agree with everyone above - I looked forward to seeing your and everyone's version.
My questions is the pages you had taken out, are you storing them for next year? How do you store them, grouped in a file?
Thanks again.

Thank you Ali for introducing me to this type of Art Journal. I have so enjoyed the "rush" of it all. I will miss doing it.
So I may have to do some other mini type of thing this year. Even if it is just to record what art and knitting I do.
Now to wind handspun for socks.

I have one question if you don't mind - how did you get the words in/onto the photo collage on the last day - that is so cool?!

Merry Christmas (we're still in the Season) and Happy New Year, Ali! I've enjoyed reading your column in CK for years, but this year I've spent more time here on your blog and you've really changed the way I feel about scrapbooking. You've shown me how to let go of perfection, have fun telling my story, and to play with technique. Thank you for the gifts you share with all of us. Again, Happy New Year! -Heather

I just finished that book too...so depressing, but in a good way? Wally Lamb always makes his point, but not in a pretty way, lots to think about.. If you haven't read I Know This Much Is True, put it on your list. It is one of the best books I've ever read. I think a bit better than the latest one...I did get a bit bored with the Quirk history stuff...
Hope you have a good new year:)
