Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpowers? Well - I think it would have to be patience. I work with children who evoke this superpower out of me daily. Yup - it can be difficult, but I love it. :)

Lovely stuff. My superpower is keeping it all together and raising my 3 kids while my hubby is deployed to Iraq for a year. I seriously surprise myself sometimes at how I am handling things.

What a beautiful, happy necklace? Superpower...ummm...kindness. I'm tough on myself, way too critical to think I have any superpowers. But I am a kind person with a big heart!

beautiful necklace! My superpower, I think, is being a mom. Staying at home with my four, homeschooling them, as well as being chef, accountant, and maid for the household. Would I trade it for anything? No way :)

What a GREAT giveaway! This is beautiful :)
I would say that my superpower is making the changes to life to make sure that family & I come first, before business. It has been crazy difficult decisions -- and so I would say it was a superpower that made it possible! Now if i could only strengthen that power.....!

My superpower is my volunteer work at my kids' school. I do things most don't even know about, and that is fun to me! ~TanyaS

Hi Ali: What came to mind immediately was being a mom. Ever since I was a little girl I've dreampt of being a mom. I've been living that dream for the past 15+ years and am so thankful for my 3 children. I love them so much and only want to be the best mom for them. Nothing better than being a supermom to 3 superkids! Kim
Thanks for the giveaway opportunity and I can't wait to see precious baby "A".

That bead necklace is beautiful! I think I'm a super Mom and Grandma. I'm very involved with my grandkids and my daughters, but I don't "involve" myself in their lives. My son in laws will never have a reason to call me a meddling mother in law!

My superpower is the ability to really "get" people. If only, I could find someone that "gets" me too. lol

My superpower is multi-tasking. People always ask me "how I do it all"...but to me it just seems normal. =)

My superpower is best described in one of my favorite FaceBook Flairs..."I teach! What's your superpower?" Teaching comes naturally to me and I'm good at it!

Well, it is a really cool necklace. My superpower would have to be the love I have for my 4 kiddos. Thankfully, from somewhere deep inside, comes a never-ending flow.

My superpower is being able to talk people (mostly my mom) through their problems. My mom's life is so stressful right now, as her own mother is ill with cancer. I am so happy that I'm able to help my mom by listening and being her shoulder to cry on.
My other superpower is being able to read my husband and kids. They don't always like it, but it's pretty easy for me to know what they're feeling... and sometimes what they're about to do.

Hi Ali,
I think the most powerful superpower you can have is the power to inspire others and support/encourage them in what they do. And while i'm slowly learning that superpower, my mom has it in abundance and it's because of that superpower that i have mine. I never hesistate to take the opportunity to enjoy the things around me and try new things. She's given me the power to be adventurous and explore and never stop learning. What better superpower than the passion to learn?
btw: great idea. love the colours!
