Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is "overcoming with grace". Overcoming dissapointments, pains, frustration, self doubt...and on and on and on. The superpower of overcoming comes in handy because I can also lend it to my friends by helping them overcome with grace.

Beautiful! My superhero power: persistance. I will find a way to get it done, make it happen, one way or another. Thanks for the giveaway.

Even though I'm like no. 1150, I'm going to post anyhow because my superpower is my super strong FAITH. My faith in God, the universe, myself, my husband, my kids, my family, friend, church, etc, allows me to always make lemonade when life give me lemons.

I asked my 6 year old what power she thought I would have if I was a super hero. She says that I would have x-ray vision, apparently I'm good at seeing things that aren't there.
I think my super power would actually be my patience when dealing with frustration and an ability to stay calm even when there seems to be no reason to be calm about something.

My superpower is seeing the best in others or in situations, and then helping others see it too.
Love the "I make milk! What's your superpower?" comment above. I guess that's a superpower of mine too!
Thanks so much for the opportunity!

I am a superhero only as a result of bringing two of the most generous beautiful loving beings into this world. At 3 and 5, they are the best thing I could ever ask for in this life.

I would have to say my superpower would have to be strength. I live with chronic pain every day and I still get out of bed and go to work and try do as much as my normal activities as I can. Docs say I should not work as much but I still need to be there for my kids and try to have as much as a "normal" life as possible.

My own personal super power? I can often read people's minds. I know. Sounds creepy, but it's not.

My mom is my superhero. Last year she had 5 surgeries all from a clot that started in her leg when she fell. We almost lost her once. She almost lost her leg, then almost her foot. She remained positive and received her miracle, a pulse in her foot. She was in the hospital for a total of, approxiately 6 weeks total. Today she is strong. She remains upbeat, the dr doesn't want to see her for 3 months now. She is a very powerful, spiritual person. She is my superhero!

My superpower would be reading a children's book with expression and all the different character voices. I love this. Perhaps this is why I've become a Kindergarten teacher!

One thing I do well is manage the busy schedules of my boys and entire family. We get where we need to be, when we need to be.

The first thing that came to mind was being a good Mom...I'm blessed that my kids have grown up to be happy, responsible & (dare I say) nice teenagers. The second thing that popped into my head was that I'm a "glass half-full" kind of person...and that makes the biggest difference in the way I live my life and see the world!

I have the superpower to look into the fridge & pantry, and pull together a dinner when nobody has grocery shopped in a week and a half. And failing that, the superpower to know which restaurant is having "kids eat free" or "half priced whatevers" on that particular night of the week.

my superhero power must be THINKING DEEPLY because here i sit for 15 minutes trying to decide what to type. i really do love to think through life and memories and spiritual moments and such... it helps me find perspective.
now if i could special order a superhero power, today i would pick "zest, motivation, and energy" to do my chores.
{viastrengths.org} has a great list of ideas for this exercise.
darling necklaces and great inspiration! thanks.

I am an awesome sports photographer. My son and his teammates love looking at the images I capture of them on the basketball court, soccer field or baseball diamond!

I have found the superpower to feel love, to love through pain, to love through stress...to love it all the highs and the lows. This may sound typical to some who mastered this superpower long ago, but for me it has been freeing and fulfilling.

What a beautiful necklace.
I think I'd have to say that I'm pretty good at teaching myself things. It started out with the recorder, way back when and hopefully I'll keep doing it forever.
