Wednesday Giveaway : Superhero
Tags:Today I want to celebrate a wonderful blogger, jewelry artist, mother, and life coach who has become a friend: Andrea Scher of Superhero Designs. [ photo below by Boho Girl Denise Andrade ]
Andrea is the reason I began blogging back in 2004. I was working on a project for a workshop about designing with color (& color inspiration) and was searching the internet using the search terms "colorful jewelry." I stumbled onto Andrea's Superhero site (and of course I had to order a handmade necklace as part of my research), started reading her blog and checking out all her inspiring links, and decided then and there that what she was doing was cool and I wanted to start my own blog.
I finally got to meet Andrea in person last summer after corresponding back and forth from time to time over the past four years. It was awesome. She has a heart of gold, a wonderful written voice, and a gift for helping people get in touch with their own inner superhero.
Today, lucky readers, Andrea is giving away a one of her fantastic, colorful bead necklaces. In addition, she has a special holiday sale happening now that includes $20 off necklaces bead necklaces. Passion would make a great gift for a special friend (or a suggestion for a spouse who may need a little help in choosing a Valentine gift).
Here's a little FAQ on her lovely necklaces. She has also added these very cool silver pendant necklaces to her offerings.
To be entered into the drawing today leave a comment that highlights your own personal superpower (or superpowers). And before you think you have none, stop and consider the possibility
for a moment. What is something you are just awesome at? Take a
minute to be proud of something about ourselves and share it publicly.
I bet you are your very own superhero in some very special way.
Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winner posted shortly after.

My superpower is that I care. I can't stop caring, can't stop trying to lighten someone's load...always trying to be helpful...postive...hopeful. Thanks for this question; I'm über critical of myself almost all of the time. I think I should journal/scrap about one of my superpowers once a week...maybe that could be your next mini album challenge for us? =)

I am a superhero Kintergarten teacher. Really....I can hear the way the boys start their play and know it is going to be light sabers and the force or it could be spiderman by the way they turn their wrists. Different kinds of superhero work for either one...I just have to make sure no body gets hurt.

I loved the story of how you started blogging - didn't know that!!
I would say that my superpowers are making people laugh, gift wrapping (with cello!), and remembering useless bits of trivia!!

I feel like I am a great baker. Everyone really enjoys the bake goods that I bake for them. And I enjoy sharing them too.
I'm also a great friend, I would do anything for my friends.

My superpower would be the ability to make the best macaroni and cheese. And also to be the best volunteer possible for our local schools.

My superpower is creativity. Seems rather lame to say that here, among all these great creative women who seem to be far more creative than I, but among my friends... trust me, I'm the creative one. Such as coming up with the best project with her 1st grader 45 minutes before school starts, because she failed to read the back side of the homework sheet that announced a huge project. (Did I mention I'm NOT a superhero when it comes to being organized?) DS did almost all the work himself (Mom manned the glue gun), and everyone thought we'd spent days and days on it.

Spent a lot of today trying to think up a superpower, but it seemed fall pretty flat, especially in light of my disappointing performance in lab today.
But if pressed--I never fail at being bizarre. I am capable of surprising pretty much anyone at will.

My superpower is teaching others. Whether I'm in class teaching students or with my two beautiful boys - I facilitate growth and learning.
Love it! Great exercise for us to do - thanks for push to think beyond the norm and really SELF CELEBRATE our gifts.
:)

Well today I am most definately a Superhero/Supermum. Its 44 degrees, thats 111 for you American ladies. I have been at a crowded, stinky, windy pool playing non stop with my 3 gorgeous kids for 4 hours. Seriously though I think I am pretty amazing at times. I run a Baby and Childrens Market to raise money for the Multiple Birth Association (GAMBA), I am a Chefs Toolbox Consultant, a waitress and fundraiser for GAMBA. I have 3 kids in Kinder this year so a tight schedule. I still manage to scrap, make softies, clothes for the kids and cook up a storm each and every night for my family. Three cheers to me.
P.S I am getting a root canal tomorrow and plan to be a superhero right through the procedure ( I hope)

I love that photo of Andrea, the colours are great, she looks like she is beaming colour. I like to think that my superpower is decorating, I love surrounding myself with beautiful things that enrich our family life. Of course we are all super hero mum's, but I wanted my superpower to be something just about me!

Cool idea! My superpower is being a problem solver...at home & at work. I may not be able to fix all the problems myself but I am the go to person to figure out how to tackle the problem and where to go for the solution

It makes a nice positive change to force myself to think of what superpower I have.
I think my superpower is courage. Courage to fight the anxiety problems that held back my life for so long. With my new found superpower I am enrolling in a Library Science course tommorow. After being agoraphobic for years, that's a big step for me!
Cheers to everyone and their superpowers - rock on! :)
