Wednesday Sponsor Giveaway: Freehand Scraps, Big Picture Scrapbooking, + Paper & Co. Show

First, I want to pass along a thought for today that I came across on my friend Alex's blog about courage & leaps:

What I realized is that there is not just one big moment of courage in
our lives. There are many. These moments come to us in different ways.
At times we are forced into a leap (unexpected pregnancy, when parents
or partners pass away, when we loose our job). At times we are called
into a leap (when someone invites us for a trip of a lifetime, when our
partner wants to move to a new city, when we are offered a chance, when
we take the "money maker" role to support our family). Then there are
also the daily tiny leaps we take for the sake of adventure (when we
try new types of food, music, when we go out on a date, when we talk to
a stranger, when we transition from blogger friends to real life
friends). No matter how small, silly or hard, tiny, dramatic or
forgotten... All leaps are important because little by little, we live
through change, we figure out how to cope, we move forward, we learn
who we are, and we build our confidence for the bigger leaps, the ones
we seek for ourselves.

Maybe someone else out there needed to hear this today too...

And now, three cool midweek sponsor giveaways are on tap for today:

2

• One person will receive a February Kit from Freehand Scraps.

Lom5
Stacyj

• Two people will receive passes to Stacy Julian's fantastic online Library of Memories class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Focused on getting your scrapbook albums in working order and organizing your photos (in a very "you-centered" way), I highly recommend the class and/or Stacy's book Photo Freedom. Class begins February 12th and runs for 16 weeks. This class is only offered once a year.

BANNER PACS

• One person will receive 4 classes for the Paper & Co. event in Italy on March 27, 28, and 29 (giveaway does not include travel, accommodations, or food for the event). You can check out a list of the classes here. Italy sure sounds good to me right about now :).

To be included in the drawing today please leave a comment below and share your most recent "leap" or act of courage. Comments will be closed at 8pm Pacific tonight with the winners posted shortly after.

My recent leap of faith and courage was to open my heart back up to someone close to me who hurt me deeply for many years. I have now come to accept that they are human and make mistakes like the rest of us. It took me what seems like a long long time to get this one - I am usually a quick study - but so happy within myself for this epiphany. It wasn't them, but me. It took a lot of courage to let go of that pain that I used to protect myself.
Thank you for this topic and forum of expression.

My biggest leap is the decision to finally take care of myself mentally as well as physically. I've spent the last 7 years having three boys and giving them my all. Just recently I realized how much I have let myself go. I am turning 40 this May and decided that it's time to take care of my needs so that I can be a happy healthy mom for my family and for myself! :)

After home schooling our kids for 2 years, we've decided to take our family on the road and RV around the US for a year, and documenting our travels. We are shooting for a June departure if all goes well. This is definitely a huge leap for us!

Holy moly! What an amazing give away! My most recent leap is taking care of myself. I'm active duty Air Force and my priority for so long has been everything else EXCEPT myself. I recently got blood work back for pre-diabetes and it was an enormous wake up call. I have to take care of myself just like I take care of everyone else.

Leap of courage or act of faith one in the same to me. I have taken the step of cutting back my hours at work so i may be with my children after school. It is a significant cut in income but the benefits for my children have much out-weighed the loss of money.

Leap??? That's a hard one, but I do agree with Alex above when she states that all the leaps (both big and little) count. Personally, I took a leap and started calling myself an artist and I actually accepted paid photo gigs. I love Big Picture Scrapbooking and made the biggest leaps during Allison Tyler Jones' "Art that Happens to Be Your Life"...Highly recommended for everyone who wants to define themselves as a photographer. Wishing you all the best Ali with the arrival of baby. Oh and I also love Freehand Scraps..I've bought of few of Heidi's kits.

I guess that my big leap is going back to school to pursue my teaching degree. I am far older than most students in any of my classes, but I am finding that it is less scary than I thought and I am actually a great student:)
Thanks for the give away, now back to my homework:)

I had my son in September and went back to work full time January 5th. That has been an act of courage and strength for me. It's a journey.

My most recent leap is leaving my home, with my family and moving in with my very recently widowed mother-in-law. We are building and addition and selling our home to be with her. Love your site and good luck with your new little one!

A few days ago, I found a former friend online and renewed our friendship. This was a huge leap for me because I always tend to think negatively that if that person hasn't emailed or called in a while, that it must mean they don't want to be friends. Juvenile I know, but I think what it really means is that I'm afraid to put myself out there and just be the one to make that contact even if they haven't.

I took a big leap in November. I quit working close to home to go teach in an inner-city school.
It has been challenging, but so rewarding watching my students come in every morning eager to learn and have fun.

The leap I have taken recently is more spiritual than tangible. My word for 2009 is SHINE and every day I am finding new ways to do that. A huge part of this is a renewed sense of faith and a spiritual awakening. It is giving me the courage to do, or not do, certain things.

I don't know that it's a leap, but I have been working very hard on trying to be patience and not raising my voice with my kids. I sure wish they sold patience in a bottle some days!

Today's leap was to remain present and open to a dying woman who offered me her blessing. I have read Photo Freedom and taken baby steps. I would love to take a leap with Stacy.

My leap of courage today was standing up to a big-dog at work! I'm a new supervisor and I went toe-to-toe with someone with years of experience. But my previous experience proved to be the more convincing argument!!
