I am a hybrid scrapper so i print out alot at home. I first print it out on a normal piece of printer paper. When I am happy with it I then find a scrap of cardstock, use hermafix to attach the scrap over the printing I want , then run it through my printer.

Several friends and I buy and split fibers, fabric, supplies, paper packs, etc. Things are cheaper in bulk. We swap stickers and papers as tastes change and answer each others call for themes. We shop each others stash for free before we ever buy anything. I have really cut down on purchases this way.

When I travel, I collect free brochures and maps to incorporate into my pages rather than buying souvenirs or embellishments.

My frugal tip is, I used one of the plastic containers that I believe bring the brown eggland eggs come in, to organize my brads,bling or whatever little embellishment by color. Its not my original idea, I saw it somewhere, but its worked better then other things I have bought.

My frugal scrapbooking tip is:
Cut off the ribbon that is sewn inside tops and add it to your stash. Sometimes this satin ribbon is in the most amazing colours that you wouldn't find in craft stores.

My scrapbooking budget is limited. So, one trick I've learned is to try to work two to three pages out of one group of supplies. I can usually get three layouts that look totally different even though I used the same products. It not only saves money - but time too!

Tips-
I use my childrens art(scanned)as accents for pages about them.
Also, use old childrens book pages from well used/spine cracked books. You get alot of sweet,retro, and thematic pages, and not all have to be used for kids pages either.
I love the look of cutting out shapes from news print & catalogs too! Junk mail put to good use!
Unfortunately- Atlanta is not an option here. :o(

I will say paint--It is super cheap, goes a long way and changes things to be whatever color you need or want!!! Sorry I couldn't go to Atlanta!

I love to re-use the cardboard from inside paper towel holders.
You'd be surprised what you can punch out with those.

I make my own greeting cards and thank you notes with my scraps and I use your font for the message on the inside. My friends and relatives really seem to appreciate them and I enjoy making them. With my husband out of work for the last three months I have not been spending money on scrap supplies so it has forced me to be more creative and I still have plenty of stash to go a few more months without buying anything new (but I hope I won't have to). Thanks for your blog Ali, you are real inspiration tom me.

I just love kid's clothing tags (e.g. Roxie, the gap,etc.) and use them a lot as journaling cards or accents. Thank you for the chance! Love those Shabby Chic Tags =)

I probably couldn't make it to the Scrap ETC event b/c that is so close to my DH's deployment date (May 5).. but it sounds like a fabulous event! Someone will be very lucky to win!
As for a frugal tip... hmmmm. I have to agree with others, scrapbooking isn't very frugal, but I do think that pattern paper can go a LONG way. If you can spend 60-70cents on a piece of paper that is all you need to make a fabulous layout. You can cut out elements, add Stickles and stitching for texture and pop dots for dimension!

My new, favorite frugal scrapbooking tip is to take the $1 chipboard journaling books from the dollar section at any big box store and use the cover/back for a mini album and use the lined pages as journaling spots. I border punch the edges, use scallop punches, or just use them as is! I love that I can stretch my dollar so far, and get great results!
I would LOVE any of the prizes, and I could make an 8 hour car trip from Florida for the Scrap, Etc. event!

I take ribbon from anything I can. Gifts other people give us, things I buy, etc. I love ribbon and it seems to show up everywhere. Plus, I love the dollar bins of ribbon at Michael's or the $1 spot at Target.

If there is a rub-on I really like, I scan it so that I can use it as a digital element later! If you print a rub-on onto vellum and trim closely you sometimes can't tell the difference! It definitely stretches the dollar!
Normally I would love to go to Atlanta, but realistically its not in my budget, nor could I leave my mom right now.

Ok - I can't make it to GA. My tip, I live near an AC Moore, so I stop in once a week and use my 40% off coupon. If I don't see anything I love, I stock up on adhesive and other basics. I poses the ability to walk out with one new punch, or just a pack of adhesive.

My frugal tip is to SHARE! My friend has the Cricut and I have lots of stamps, inks, paints and Quickutz...we get together and share our stuff. No need for both of us to buy the same stuff. Works out great for both of us.

My tip is to keep a sketch pad or notebook with you at all times. You never know when inspiration can strike - this goes for not just layouts and visual ideas. It also applies to writing/journaling something that occurs to you.

When I crop photos, I save the scraps to use on other layouts as pieces of landscape or of the furnishings in the room or I fussy-cut the people remaining in the photo scrap and use a pop-dot to add them into other layouts.

If I'm covering up a lot of my patterned paper with a large photo I often will cut out a piece of the paper that's hidden by the photo.

Hey Ali! I love the Vintage paper kits... so cute all of them, any way...
My tip: I like to mix and match new materials with recycled stuff from my regular life, it could be napkins from a starbucks or a paper bag from Mc Donalds, ALL related factors or little items it could be the final touch of a great story, dont you think?
