My favorite tip is to look for items you can use for scrapbooking else where in the store. I think scrapbooking things can tend to be over priced. I look charms, flowers, ribbons, and fun embellishments all over the place~in the jewelry making isle and in the fabric section. I always find great stuff to use!

I have started gifting scrapbooking items to my friends that I don't think that I will use. This has helped clean up my space and made my friends very happy.

I think my best frugal tip is to spend money on quality tools like punches and stamps that you can use again and again.

I save all scraps size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 & larger....(card size) or any width that is 12" long. (They make excellent borders) I then recycled 10 large cereal boxes, cut the tops off at an angle, covered them in white contact paper and labeled each one with a different color of the rainbow. Now all my scraps are sorted and when I am working on a layout I go to those boxes first! If there isn't something that works, then I cut up a fresh piece of paper. It has really saved me a lot of money & time and the better part is it's saving the environment too!

Oh, this sounds fun. I love to use the packaging my products came in to add dimension and recycle, aka save money. Thanks for opportunity!

My frugal scrapbooking tip would be to try and make a lot of embellishments yourself. Isn't it fun to make a LO or card or such with handmade embellishments? Makes me even more proud of what I have accomplished :)

A good frugal tip that I like to incorporate into some of my scrapbooking is to use the sticker backsides (i think thats what there called) or the backing of a chipboard shape. Especially with circles, hearts, stars, and other basic shapes.....you can have 2x as many embellishments.

So many good tips. I like re-using packaging and also keep the punched out sheets left over after the kid's game pieces have been removed from a new game. pokemon gave me a cool sheet of 5 or 6 rows of circles. You can use them as stencils, trace them, make your own background paper and embellishments. The cardboard is usually very thick so it lasts for a while.

When shopping, ask yourself, "Do I really need this?" Go thro your stash and supplies regularly so you know what you have. Too many times I've purchased something only to find that I already have one (or 2!).

Using my paper scraps is my frugal tip. Also, getting creative with my "outdated" supplies is another tip.
But, most of all I don't buy anything new until I have used a previous must-have.

I wish I could leave a "frugal" tip but instead, I love the look of inking the edges of paper to "age" them a bit. Doing that really does give a finished look, regardless of the paper, theme, etc.
Scrap Etc. sounds like a dream and would be an "easy" trip from Jacksonville - count me in!

Frugal tip...buy with a friend, split the cost and the product. Saves money and fewer unused leftovers.
I can attend the Scrap ETC event :)

I don't really have a frugal tip, so here's my regular tip. :)
When I buy new paper, I match cardstock with it from my stash right away and put both cardstock & paper in a large zipper bag. I grab these bags when I go to crops & I don't have to bring all my paper & cardstock with me.

Wow, Ali...these are some awesome and very generous givaways...Thank-you for giving me a chance to win!
I do have a scrapbooking tip that I use quite a bit when dealing with my family heritage albums. I'm sure people have used this trick before: I find it helpful when dealing with old photos and album pages, to use waxed dental floss to slide down between the photo and paper to help remove the old photo without damaging it. I'm still in the process of rejuvenating all these albums but this trick hasn't failed me yet!
And yes, it would be very realistic for me to attend the Scrap Etc. event in Atlanta!! Thank's again!

    what a great prompt!
frugal tip: i use the cardboard that is on the back of paper pack for lite chipboard shapes.
i also think it helps me to be more frugal if i don't save everything, but instead give it away. (my middle school students LOVE scrapbook stuff for their own creations/projects)
p.s.i would find a way to get to the event if i was so lucky to win!

Ali, you have the greatest giveaways!
I would love to be included in the scrap etc event drawing!
I'm trying to recycle packaging and everyday items I find around the house to use in my projects.
Plus I am planning a get together with friends where we can swap our extra supplies. At the end of the evening what ever is left will be donated.

We all have way more stuff than we'll ever use, and by "going shopping" in our scrapbook space, we are bound to find some long forgotten product that can be put to good use.

To save money, I use the chipboard padding at the back of Legal/Notepads in artisan shapes to make fun mini-albums!
